Toe cap strap will not stay on
Boots fit and felt great. Wore em around the house to get used to them and break them in some. First trip up to the hill the toe cap straps on my Bent Metals will not stay on. The molded toe caps are at a mellow angle instead of 90 so the cap strap just slips off mid shred and then I have no toe strap. This happened to both feet every run. I get it's needed for crampon accessibility but I can't actually strap in rendering my equipment useless. Seems like a design flaw or maybe it's just poor comparability with my gear but I tried two sets of Bent Metals and had the same experience. I'm definitely not going back to old school toe straps for these boots. So back these have to go.
Unfortunately the same as other reviews.
Took a chance on these boots after seeing the other reviews and unfortunately they perform exactly how others stated. The boot feels like it is broken into 2 parts, and leaning forward like you would on a toeside turn immediately puts pressure on the top of the foot. I was able to lace them up tight enough to get a good medium flex feel, but the foot pressure is unbearable. The boot just does not flex the way it should. Size was true for me. Wish I could recommend, but the other reviews are accurate.
Not a great boot
I also really wanted to like this boot. I've been riding thirty two for 9 seasons. My tm2 boas ripped so I had to get new ones. I got the jones versions but I experienced the exact same issues everyone else losted in their reviews. My toe straps came off every single run. I kept having pressure on the top of my foot, making them fall asleep. Also couldn't get the boots tight enough, the top section felt wayy too loose. I normally love thirty two but they missed with this one.
Wanted to love this boot
Bought this boot mainly for the crampon compatibility - but it has some significant shortcomings. The inability to get the top part of the boot tight, means you move around a good bit, as it only has a ski strap to crank down on. The second major gripe - the lower portion of the boot ties in a traditional lace. However, that lace is stowed right where your strap sits, meaning there isn't ideal contact when ratcheting down.
Very Uncomfortable
They don't fit. Even after breaking them in from many uses and trying alternate boot liners, the boots would not fit. I wear size 10.5 in most boots, but sometimes size 11. So I got these in size 11 to be safe and they were to small and pressed on my toes. But they also pressed down hard on the top of my foot, right in the middle on my bone. It would start to cut off my circulation and give me a bruise on long tours in the backcountry.
Not true to size
My 10.5 which is my size in every other shoe or boot is extremely uncomfortable. In both feet my big toe is smashed into the front on the boot.
A Compromise of a Boot in Every Way Except Warmth
Strange fit and changes from previous model to the detriment of the boot as a whole. Overall I really like these but in this new version for some reason ThirtyTwo has removed ALL lacing rungs above the ankle and gaiter leaving just the hook&loop power-strap for support and fit. More, the power strip no longer goes around the back of the boot whatsoever (and no way to route there if you choose). Getting the strap tight enough for good support left more than half the loop side with nothing to hook to, just dangling (and I do not have skinny calves). Clearly designed for walk mode first, without regard to riding. Significant top-of-foot pressure in the fit, and with such little ankle and lower calf securing option I could not get rid of SIGNIFICANT heel lift even with the fit-kit foams installed in the ankle pockets of the liner. (In fact if I tried hard enough I'm sure I could wrench my foot entire out of the boot with it completely strapped and laced in.) These boots fit my mondo size correct - toes where the should be etc. but the boot is simply poor design. Too many compromises make it a barely average out-bound boot (except for warmth - it's very warm) and an extremely poor in-bound boot. Not sure why the changes were made from last year's model which was far, far more capable.
