poor durability
I've had two pairs of these skies. The first pair I ripped the toe piece off the ski carving turns in firm snow. The company replaced it for free because they thought it was a ski defect. The second ski I broke (in the same place just under the toe piece on a tiny 4-foot drop). The ski is fun to ski and skies well--but is horrible when it comes to durability. I've had much lighter-weight skis that are far more durable. I will not be buying another pari of black crow skis.
Fun skis but poor durability
These were my 1 quiver skis. They're super light, playful, do great in powder, and icy conditions. I used them for 2 seasons and near the end of the 2nd season the edge started to delaminate from the bottom under the foot. Black Crow only offers a 2 year warranty and these were just outside of that as I bought them at the end of season a couple of years back.
Great for Skin up, Mediocre for turns DOWN
I mounted a Dynafit AT binding on this and use the Dynafit Hoji boot for a super light backcountry set. Its lighter than my tele setup from 2003! I learned there is often a price for going ultra light ..... They put the fun in the skin up. You almost forget you have skis on your feet. Once you pull the skins off and make turns, they really want perfect powder. They will chatter at the resorts and on windblown crust. That said I'll probably stick with them for years. Still having fun!
Light without Chatter
Excellent performance and light. Surprisingly there was no chatter on these light skis.
