Very Poor Durability.
For the price you pay, you would expect them to last a long time but they don’t and are covered by only a 2-year warranty. Mine developed a hole after a little more than 2 years of typical use. Other brands have lifetime warranties and are better choices. I would not buy this item again.
Very disappointed
Very disappointed in Smartwool and REI for offering this product. Thin, not woolly, not cozy. Not soft, almost scratchy. I was truly shocked to get such an uncomfortable pair of socks! $18.93 is way out of line for such inferior quality.
Poor quality compared to other styles
I live in Smartwool socks and we gift them to everyone in my family every Christmas. I was disappointed with the quality of this pair. Not sure if it's the knit or what, but after wearing for only a couple hours, brand new out of the package, on carpeted floors, a hole wore through the top of black toe area on one of the socks. Super surprising because we have dozens of pairs we've worn and washed for 5+ years, including much thinner styles that still look and feel the same as they did when we got them. I didn't read the reviews before purchasing because we've never had any issues with any Smartwool socks, but I see how that this style seems to have quality issues and wears through the bottom quickly as well. Bummer.
Heel completely threadbare after very little use!
Very disappointed in the durability of the Larimer Crew Socks. The look and feel of them is great, but the heel was threadbare after very little usage! (see pic) I live in hot and humid Dallas TX, where I typically don't even wear socks for half the year; when I did wear them it was usually in the winter, inside the house, with my slippers. It's not like I was climbing Fourteeners in them! I can see from the other reviews that this is not an isolated incident. Definitely not what I expected from Smartwool, especially given the premium one pays for their products.
Nope. Bad batch or bad at your job, either way, no bueno
Have bought Smartwool for 20+ years. Never had smartwool socks that catch threads and come undone from putting on/off. All my other smartwool socks from previous years are intact and soft. These pairs are constantly catching and pulling from 3 days use. ALSO, these are not at all safe around fires. This poly blend will quickly catch fire and if it does it will burn to your skin causing serious damage. SW should address these two significant quality issues, or stop making socks. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Not the real thing
I have a drawer full of Smart Wool socks and I must say these are either a very poor quality sock or a foreign knock-off. The material was like rag wool and the fit similar to something from a big box store, (loose and saggy). Definitely disappointed. They went straight to the donation bin. (I will say that I purchased several other Smart Wools for gifts and they were the typical high quality I'd expect.)
Socks/footwear
It is more difficult than seems to acquire quality, comfortable, well fitting socks. These are perfect length, appropriate weight (for hiking and casual wear), neutral but yet “statement” tones. Both styles are a home run. Should have bought more.
Very poor durability
After trying them on and wearing them around, I liked these socks so much I traded in my other Christmas presents and picked up 8-10 pairs to use every day, since they worked well with work boots, hiking boots, and sneakers. A bit more than a year later, I'm really regretting it. Even rotating through such a large number of them, so that each one wasn't worn more than once a week or so at most, **every single one** of the socks has totally worn out at the heel/Achilles' tendon, and many have also worn through at the sole and/or on top of the toe. These really don't last nearly as long as an ultra-expensive sock should. I have other Smartwool socks that have lasted much, much longer and these are a major disappointment — since the company touts its guarantee, I may try returning them.

These are my most comfortable socks. Not too tight, not too hot, super cozy. SmartWool socks are fantastic.
Great sock, very comfortable and look stylish.
These are not my dad's wool socks he wore everyday as a carpenter! His were ugly grey with a red stripe, these are shades of beautiful colors. His were very thick and heavy, these are very light and comfortable. These socks are very soft and plushy and have a thicker sole that fits my foot and boot. My feet don't sweat and it's like wearing another insole. They fit into my Irish Setters like a glove! Great sock for a great price!
