It took six or seven weeks, but after using this near-daily, the pin bent. Topeak says the tool is designed for a lot of pressure to be put on something so small, this is a common problem... but there are no replacement pins. Can warranty through the retailer and replace the whole tool, but can't just switch out the broken part. Could try to grind and file a new pin out of an m5, but wish the tool was user-serviceable if it has a known weak point. Never used recklessly or over-stressed... Topeak says this is just part of it, time for a new tool, which a retailer might offer for free. I don't want to throw this whole tool out, though. Especially not less than two months into owning it. That's nuts.
Shop use: solid
Full disclosure, I work in a community bike shop and this thing lives in my pocket. It's super light, it's compact, and it's durable. The hex key stays in place. There's a wire chain holder that I leave behind because it pokes out. I carry this in one pocket & the topeak mini 9 in the other and that covers many of the things I wind up doing in a day. Quite happy with it. Shape is great for pocket. Does a great job with chains even for, so far, daily use over many weeks.
