PROS: Love the fit, look, interchangeable lenses, the storage case…and they haven’t fogged up! Yay! I finally own some goggles that fit my face well! (Typically goggles are too large for my face and come too far down on the bridge of my nose.) The interchangeable lenses are easy to change. The included instructions aren’t great, but I did a quick YouTube search and the first video I found was very helpful. (It would be nice if Smith included a demonstration video link in the included instructions.) My order Included two lenses: ChromaPop Mirror (sunny conditions) and ChromaPop Storm Rose Flash (low light conditions.) I really appreciate the storage box and the goggle sock that comes with these goggles. Hopefully this will prevent me from scratching them while being stored with my gear. CON: Both the mirrored lens and the rose-colored lens have a slight distortion at the very bottom of the lenses. I noticed it in the parking lot the first time I tried these on…but once I got on the mountain it wasn’t a problem. I believe this occurs because the lenses curve back at the bottom creating a distortion. That being said, I don’t have the same range of vision with my other goggles that I have with these goggles…I suppose it’s better to have a bit of distorted vision (at the bottom) versus not being able to see that angle (with my other goggles, I see goggle pads at the bottom, not terrain.) Hopefully this makes sense, it’s hard to explain. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars just because of the distortion. These are pricey goggles, however you receive two lenses and a well-designed hard case to store them in… so they should last longer because of the protection. I’m loving ripping up the mountain with these! (The storm rose flash is great for the typical Pacific Northwest low-light condition days…and the mirrored lenses are perfect for the sunny days! Twofer!
Make sure your face is actually really really small for these to fit properly. Your face should be small enough for regular adult sizes to take over your face and/or be slipping off or sticking out too much to the sides of your face. It'll work for bigger faces, but you'll be rocking some major goggle lines for hours afterwards. Having a flatter Asian face with higher cheekbones, these weren't the most comfortable for me. It dug in to my cheekbones and created gaps on the bottom sides that let cold air come through while riding. Also doesn't sit quite well under a helmet but I noticed it fits perfectly under a Smith helmet. The lenses also fogged up when I had my buff on all the way over my nose. Cleared up quickly, but still a bit of a bother during cold days.
I love these goggles! They have 2 sets of lenses: clear and rose so that you can choose your level of tint. The lenses come out easily and there is a case that (although large) keeps everything in its place. The goggles are lightweight, fit my face pretty well over my ski helmet (and around my head when I use them to downhill MTB) and they don’t fog up easily. There’s a mesh panel for breathability above the lenses and it’s pretty clutch. I would definitely recommend this product to friends.
This has a large glare on both lenses, which impedes vision. The glare is present in all different lightings. I’m surprised that these goggles are so expensive and yet have this defect.
I’ve been using smith virtue goggles for years with photochromic lenses and an allure helmet. These goggles with a sunny and storm lens were quite good. They fit well and gave a large range of vision. I’ve taken them out in all conditions - sunny, cloudy, stormy. They never fogged up on the inside in the storm which was great. The sunny lenses were a good balance between dark enough in the open areas and not too dark in the trees. They are slightly heavier due to the interchangeable lens mechanism. So likely would not take touring. But the mag function is very easy to use. Over all I would highly recommend, and will likely purchase photochromic lenses as well for these.
The strap was sticky leaving a film on the helmet and the frame broke where it locks in the lens. I tried to get them warrantied but the process took too long and I threw them away before knowing I had to go through the warranty process. Big waste of money and time
Good field of view, clarity, and protection for sunny sunny days. Snug fit. They come with a hard case and two lenses that are easy and convenient to change—great for Whitefish Mountain since conditions change regularly. Really do make the colors pop!
Wow. Best goggles I've ever worn on the mountain. I strongly believe that spending more money on gear doesn't make you better at any given activity, but these goggles have definitely made for more enjoyable ski days. So far have only worn them on low light days with active snow fall. Fit great on my average size female face and didn't have to spend the day adjusting them so snow wouldn't get between the goggles and my helmet. They also don't fog up like my old ones used to. And the magnetic lenses are rad. So easy to switch out. Love that feature. Gogglesoc is a nice bonus.
I love everything about these goggles. Both lenses are excellent for their purposes (blue bird and low light) and I definitely feel like I can see more around me with these goggles. They also just look super cool on! I have a narrow face and these are the first goggles I’ve owned that really fit me. I like the interchangeability of the lenses. The hard case is well designed and holds everything nicely. I do wish there was a small hard case for the “other lens” I could throw in my bag while I am out and about to protect it from being squished in my bag. I have been super happy with this Smith product and expect it will last for years like my Smith sunglasses.
Right from putting these goggles on for the first time I noticed that the strap was broader and sturdier than my previous Smith goggles and it holds them to my face better. The goggles fit perfectly with both my Smith and Giro helmets leaving no drafty gap and they don’t fog up, even hiking up in the backcountry. I notice that if I looked directly down in the goggles there is a slight distortion at the bottom of the lens, probably due to the curve of the lens, this is not a problem for actually skiing because we should be looking ahead and not down. Even though these are sized for a smaller face, the lens offers a beautiful wide field of vision which is truly advantageous both in the lift line and on crowded slopes. It is easy and quick to change between lenses and I particularly like the ChromaPop Storm Yellow Flash lens for low light. The photo shows me using the Sun Red Mirror lens in low light and that worked well too in low light but it was terrific for my sensitive eyes in bright sun.
