Thule 2025 BMW SUP racks
This is my 3rd Thule Edge Fixpoint SUP racks in the past 10 years(3 different cars). In my opinion there’s no more reliable, ascetically designed , and durable racks on the market.
Nice rack, some thoughts
I have a BMW 535d and the rack is great, does exactly what it’s designed to. For my opinion there are two things that could be worked on. The wind fairing needs more support so that when running through a car wash, it doesn’t rip off or get messed with. If you don’t have a fabrication background, I imagine a fox would be out of the realm of possibilities, but I’m working to swap out the brackets to hold it stiffer than what comes stock. The second thing is the rails attach really far out from the mounting points and look a tad awkward. If they were sleeker or more streamlined, I’d be super happy but they’re kinda clunky and big.

Worked as designed
Other than the directions being like IKEA directions and sometimes interesting to try and figure out, it was a fairly straightforward install process. Unlike others we don’t have any whistling or other loud noises coming from the bars, and we can still use our moon roof. We installed on a 2014 Toyota Highlander. We also purchased the Motion XXL box, from a local retailer and everything worked fine. I would have given 4.5 if I could, the instructions should be better for a 5 star rating
Solid so far
Thule always has solid equipment. The only thing that bothered me about my purchase this time is my fit kit came with a proprietary bolt and wrench that the instructions mentioned needed to be tighter down to 8Nm of torque. But since it is a proprietary bolt and wrench, there is no way to reasonably get to 8 Nm. Seems like an oversight at some point in the design process for this one.
Very difficult to install. I will be returning it
I purchased an entire system to ensure that I would be able to install a kayak carrier on my SUV. The website makes it very difficult to know you have the right parts for your car. The directions you receive seem to value a wordless Apple-esque aesthetic over being comprehensible. And there is little helpful advice available on the internet to bridge this issue.
Solid Thule quality but...
Solid Thule quality but I was hoping for a lower profile option that incorporates the wingbar edge T track with the split rubber strip. These sit an inch or two higher than my aeroblade bars which means I wouldn't be able to pull in the garage with my Alpine Vector roof box installed. So I returned these and kept my aeroblade bars.
Whistles
Not sure which piece is whistling, the Fixpoint or the Wingbar, but something whistles at almost any speed below 50. At 50, the whistling either stops, or wind noise drowns it out. Very disappointing.
Thank you for alerting Thule to the issues you are experiencing with your Thule roof rack system. I understand your frustration with the whistling while using your roof rack. Whistling is usually the result of a gap somewhere in the roof rack system. Thule recommends checking over the rubber and plastic covers that go over the tracks on the rack system, and the connection points between the bars and feet to ensure there are no places the wind can pass over. A Thule representative has reached out for more information to provide more specific troubleshooting advice.
Solid Fit and Function
Getting the whole kit based on our Highlander was super easy. The bars, pads, etc were easy to install. These bars held a large 1600 box on the windiest trip and not worry to be had.
Great product - no wind noise!
I’ve had Thule racks on 2 other vehicles and decided to go OEM on my SQ7. Bad idea…couldn’t take the wind noise so I bought the Thule FixPoint Edge and no noise at all! Love them…
