Sizing is off. Way off.

I ordered an XXL size, following the sizing guidelines strictly (chest size was dead in the middle of the XXL size). I'm normally an L or XL, depending on compression. The garment is too large and clearly does not follow the sizing suggestions. The chest is loose, shoulders are too wide, and sleeves are monkey-arm long - nothing like the pictures of the garment on the model. I recommend that you size down from whatever the sizing guide suggests. All sales are final, so I'm stuck with these things. The wool has a nice hand feel but does have some scratchiness against the body common with wool products. I'll give it a go, but based on the product pictures showing a tighter fit, it is not what I expected or wanted.

Shopped the Mens Dept. and Scored

For some strange reason, SmartWool quit making turtlenecks for us women. This is a thicker than SM, soft, black merino turtleneck that has a longer cut (which is nice for tucking in). It was pricey, but I love how it is a thin wool layer that keeps me warm. I know from experience it's important to keep these protected from moth damage (this is a replacement) and I know that they handwash well. I am 36D and ordered a medium.

Merino neck coverage without the zipper

An avid fan of Merino, this one is a great addition for that extra depth of warmth. I mainly bought this for the turtleneck without a zipper for less clutter in the neck. Primarily, I use this as a base layer under my motorcycle jackets, and when coupled with a thin windbreaker layer between is very warm. I also use it for skiing with the same benefit of less fight with the neck coverage from my ski jacket.

Comfortable

Warm, feels good against the skin, I like the turtleneck, even though it is really a mock turtleneck. Great base layer. Thin! Marino wool is great for regulating your body temperature, too. I had this on under a regular t-shirt and a mid-weight puffer jacket on a windy winter day that was in the low 20s in Oklahoma. Going inside and outside was not uncomfortable at all.

great turtle neck

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several merino long sleeve tops but most of them leave the neck bare. I have also one covers the lower part of the neck with a short fairly stiff front zipper making them less comfortable. Even I have a fairly large head that turtle neck is no problem. Turtle necks are great to keep yo r neck warm but a lightweight version would be great for sun protection.

Can be worn in the trail and casual dining.

Warm and elegant looking. Too long but people who often tucked in their clothes would appreciate it. The sizing guide may not be accurate because mine came on the looser end so order one to two size down (if you want a fitted look). Don't be afraid to size down because they do stretch however maybe always do a cold hand wash so you won't shrink them.

Warm

Great for intermediate weather (30f to 50f). Love the material and quality. I did not like the mock turtle neck color that loose fitting? The color ruined the shirt for me. Why couldn't it be a normal color with the 260 weight? Size of shirt was a good fit, true to size. Great for working outdoors, wicks moisture away and keeps you warm.

No more T necks !!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Worn for New England weather, have 5 other Icebreaker long sleeve T's all medium, regular crew neck. This T neck is bigger all around - fit is too loose. Neck is a Mock, not a real fold over T neck. Hope it shrinks a bit with a 10 minute dryer cycle. A shame as all the rest are perfect !!~
