Waterproof but anorak style not for everyone
Used this jacket for about two weeks of snowboarding, snowmobiling and other winter activities in New Hampshire and Colorado. At 20 - 30 degrees its fine with just a baselayer if you're active, below that an insulated jacket or fleece underneath works well. I fell a lot while snowboarding and I also boarded in the rain, and the jacket was totally waterproof. Didn't get cold despite high winds at Loveland, it kept the wind out. The Pit zips are great if you overheat. The hand pockets have some kind of lining thats comfy, and the kangaroo pocket is generously sized (though you look ridiculous when you fill it up with stuff). There is no chest pocket, and while there is a liftpass pocket I didn't need it for the places I went to. However, I found that I really dont like the anorak style jacket. If you need to switch layers it's kind of a pain to take off and put back on despite the big side zip. This made it a lot less convenient for casual use (e.g. going into a restaurant or something and taking it off). I would recommend it to a friend who's getting into snowboarding with the caveat that they should think about whether the anorak style is for them.
I got this jacket in the Prairie Paintbrush/Tnf Black color because it was 50% off, ugly as sin, but functionally it is a great jacket. Definitely need to have a few layers on underneath on cold days.
