I tried on multiple pair of petite/short ski pants and these were the by far the winner. They are a flattering boot cut and they stretch. I have bigger legs and I can squat and sit just fine in these. The other pairs I tried were so baggy in the legs that I looked like a clown and the extra width interfered with my movement. I'll use these mostly for winter hiking, skiers may have different needs. I'm typically a medium/8 and got a 12 for these. Yes, they run very small. Just size up and don't worry about the number. I knocked off a star because of the lack of decent pockets. It's annoying but I can also put most of my stuff in my jacket so it isn't a dealbreaker.
I have a Yellow green pair and now bought black. The reviewers here are correct about sizing. I normally wear a size 0 in jeans but in these snowpants I need a size 6. I could get a size 4 but they were not comfortable with leggings underneath. I am 5’1” but can wear a regular length so they must run pretty short too. My legs are never ever cold when wearing these, even in 20 degree temperatures.
I have been trying to find a pair of snow pants for my petite 5’2 frame for awhile. These are the perfect length without being too bulky, yet still warm. I sized up to a 6 given the reviews - they fit great in the legs but are a little baggy in the waist. I can tighten the waist using the Velcro but I have to sinch up quite a bit. Not that big of deal though since waist is covered by coat.
Love the petite size for length but prepare to size up 1 or 2 sizes. I am a 4 or 6 in pretty much all clothing brands, just tried on the 8 short and they fit, but really snug and no room for a base layer. Returning for a a 10 short
I finally caved and invested in ski pants since I was tired of being cold or uncomfortable. These do run small, i sized up. Wished reí had more short sizes in stock. I wore them on a warm ish day on the slopes with super high winds really did the job with a thin base layer. I do say I wish the did ride a bit higher on the waist all around. I didn’t even mind wearing them in the car ride home that’s how comfortable they were.
The pants are lovely. However, the legs are super tight. For reference in 5’1” 125lb athletic female. I ordered a size 4 short. I could get the pants on but the legs were so tight that I couldn’t sit but the waist was huge. I tried in the size 6s and 8s at the store and both worked. I went with the 8s so I could have space to wear leggings under the snow pants. The waist is huge and when I adjust the inside of the pants it bunches up in the outside. I figured this is ok since I’ll wear a snow jacket over.
Goodbye crunchy snow pants! And WOOT!!!!-- thanks Obermeyer for offering short lengths! These are lightweight with a smooth poly exterior and inner lining. Several clever additions like internal gators, boot zippers, and an impressive velcro waist adjustment. I'm a classic women's size 4 and needed to size up to a 6.
Good sizing in that they come ín numbered sized and not just S, M, Lg. My main problem is pockets. When are outdoor companies realize women want real pockets and not just mini pockets with snazzy zippers? I can fit car keys but not my phone comfortably— that’s it.
I read online that these run small so I ordered one size larger than I normally wear. These were still too small! Now I must pay $6, along with the hassle, to return pants that are two sizes too small, which should’ve been mentioned by REI. Not cool. I also just bought the annual membership. I was shocked that even with the membership I had to pay a return fee for pants that run two sizes too small, which was not mentioned. Strike #1.
I own a different style of Obermeyer ski pants, so I ordered the same size thinking they would have a similar fit. Unfortunately, these are way too tight. They say there is some stretch in the fabric, but in my opinion it is minimal. I do like the style, and may try the next size up.
