Much improved soft-shell pants
The updates to these Transcender pants are wonderful! Now there is a button closure instead of Kuhl's tradiitional snap, no French-fly and phone pockets that will fit an iPhone Pro Max. Fit is true to my other Kuhl pants of the same size. The only thing that would makes these pants better would be some additonal color options.

Super Comfortable but Pilling after First Handwash
Kühl RN#108846 22F Style# 5250 TRANSCENDR PANT Bought these for holiday in Japan. Positives: The most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn, just right amount of stretch and no biting in the crotch when sitting for long flights, train and auto travel. Love all the zippers, felt quite secure in crowds and items could not fall out of pocket when sitting or laying down. Thank your designers for not skipping back left pocket and zipper. I’m left handed, I know we are a minority at 10-12% of the population but Prana and other apparel makers omission of back left pocket and/or zipper is a complete turn off. Two negatives: one minor, the opening for the small leg pocket is too small for the depth. I keep my keys in one and a small wallet in the other but fishing them out is a bit of a challenge given only two or three fingers breadth and the knuckle of the other fingers preventing reaching deeper. I have really long fingers so this has to be an issue for most people, widen the opening slightly please. The big issue is the material pilling, see photo. I noticed the pants pill after hand washing in a sink the first time I had ever washed them. It also happens on gentle/delicate cold water machine wash. We have one of those pill shaver devices my wife uses on our girls Lululemon pants but we don’t have to do that till the clothes are a year or two old. Wondering if the Kühl TRANSCENDR material is new tech and needs a tweak. I’m really torn about keeping these 2 pair or returning them to REI. If only REI would offer their Sahara travel pants again without the “convertible” zip off legging I would not be in this predicament.

Perfect travel pants

I purchased a pair in 2019 for a 3 month trip to Europe and recently purchased the updated style. The zippered pockets keep items secure, the fit and fabric is comfortable for long flights and long days exploring a city or on the trail. They repel water so you won't be soaked if caught in a downpour and dry quickly. If you are traveling lite and only take one pair of pants I highly recommend them. I wear these pants almost daily and of all the Kuhl pants I own I get more people stopping me to ask what brand they are, so hopefully I have turned others to Kuhl. The slight adjustments to the new style make them even better.

We need more colors!

Kuhl Renegade's have been my go-to pant for almost a decade, but the Transcendr surpasses them. The problem is there's only two colors! We need more colors please! The Transcendr don't feel as lightweight as the Renegades, which is what I wanted - the Renegades weren't keeping me as warm in colder or especially windy weather. The Transcendr solves that problem, plus the larger zip pockets are able to fit my phone. This was no longer the case with the newer version of the Renegade, which had smaller zip pockets than the old Renegade. I'm not trying to put down the Renegade, I still love it, but now it's my #2. Would love to see a shorts version of the Transcendr.

Excellent

I bought two pairs of these for my trip to Alaska. My friends swear up and down by the Kuhl brand. Have a fe pair of the shorts. I think they are great looking pants. Made very well. I normally get a length 32, but these seemed to run long so I got a length 30. I also like how they have the cord in the bottom of the pants so I can singe them up if I like.

Just what I was looking for

Went to the store in Northville Michigan on the advice of a friend. I was looking for a pair of slacks, to replace the cheap Adidas version of nylon slacks that I’ve been using for years to walk, run and bicycle in the cool and colder weather in the state of Michigan tried these, and they have exceeded my expectations for a light weight, windproof pant. I have used them with a base layer and without and found them to be extremely comfortable and effective with the wind. I have not dealt with rain or snow yet but, I am hopeful based on the sales person and the other review on this page.

Kuhn Transcender

Love these pants. Fit well and look good without being restrictive. Pockets are well placed and right sized. the pants may be a little too heavy for warm weather.

Poor Design!

Whoever is the "designer"... needs to be fired! I have small hands and wrists, and have extremely difficult time to reach and get into the side pockets... horrible design which makes both of those pockets nearly useless! Just finished a three week trip and pants are comfortable... but, one more thing for us guys... who puts itty-bitty tiny short zipper on guys pants??? What the heck?? It really looks like they designed one pair the same way... and sell them for both women and men. Very disappointed! Not a good travel pant in terms of design! Would NOT buy again.

Perfect pair of pants

This can be an every day pair of pants, comfortable, trendy design, not too tapered, not too loose, and perfect to give you peace of mind on all your hikes as all the pockets have zippers

My Favorite of All Kuhl Garments

I have abused the heck out of these skiing in the Tetons and hiking in the Winds, Gros Ventre, etc. The only thing that Kuhl needs to do is add a lighter color to the lineup. Both of the current colors are a little too hot for hiking in cooking sun. As such, I am using the inferior (IMHO) Radikl for hiking when it's going to be sunny, as it has a wider range of colors. I will buy another pair if they add colors to the lineup. Aside: Thanks for opening a store in Jackson. It's poverty with a view here, but now there's some convenience added in.
