Warm, Breathable & Soft!
I was back & forth between these & the other cheaper Smartwool base layers. Eventually I went into the store to try both. After reading all the reviews I thought for sure I was going to get the other base layer but it turned out the Intraknit was WAY softer. I am a bit of a oversensory human when it comes to itchy wool on my skin & these do not itch at all. I wear them outside in the Winter for 12+ hours on end & have worn them in negative temperatures. I am usually a Small all around but ended up getting a Small top & Medium bottoms to accommodate for my long legs + a little extra comfort while working outside. Very breathable, I hardly need to wash them! HIGHLY recommend.

Tight!
I normally wear medium and recently ordered a different style of long underwear from REI in M and they were fine. But these (Smartwool Women's Intraknit Thermal Merino) feel like a size 4, with a ton of elastic, which I guess is supposed to make them wearable. I can get them on, but I would not be comfortable wearing them. Some people might not mind. Or you could try a size up. I'm hoping I can return them.

warm, comfortable, no vanity sizing

I got these bottoms and the matching shirt on the recommendation of my brother who swears by Smartwool. For context, my brother is the type to go hike up a mountain alone and sleep up there just to go backcountry skiing in the most desolate of places. My father lives in a colder area so finds the Smartwool products useful for outdoor activities also. I am a creature of comfort. Anyway, I felt very comfortable in the shirt and matching bottoms. I would say that this brand does not follow the vanity sizing of many women’s brands - I had to size up for tops and bottoms. (I am leaving the same review for both the top and the bottom.)

Go-to snow sport underwear

Favorite thermal leggings. Lasted 4 years before becoming thread bare in seat.

My dream base layer pants

The greatest pants I own. I'm wearing them right now (in black) and came back to buy a second pair. Warm and comfy. Perfect base layer for skiing. I would wear these all winter long if I could. I did have to size up but I tried them on in store so no worries. I'm 5'8", 120 lb and a medium is great. So many base layer pants are too short, baggy in weird places, or just a funny fit on me but these are like a glove. I tried on about 8 different other models in multiple stores before finding these, so you know I'm picky.

Horrible fit

The fit of these is extremely uncomfortable. They are surprisingly low waisted and tight - not what you would want for outdoor activities.

cozy and fun to wear

…or so says my wife. Bought a small for her on reading other reviews (she’s usually and XS) and she’s very happy and warm - both out in the weather and at home.

Very cute, but itchy

I really like the red color and design - it looks great! But so itchy, I can't imagine hiking or skiing in these.

Best base layer

I walk my dog every morning in Michigan, and it gets very cold in the winter. Even though these pants are expensive, they are worth every penny! I would highly recommend them.

Worth every penny!

Unbelievably warm, yet light weight. Perfect under my snowboarding gear. Not too hot, not cold at all. Worth EVERY PENNY!
