Perfect jacket for skiing -- purchased in Nov 2021
Awesome shell for skiing. Being a shell with a fair amount of features, it's super versatile. Would recommend to anyone looking for a high quality jacket that should last a long time. I am 5'10" and about 160 lbs and 30" waist so, more of an "athletic" build. I generally wear a medium or large, and initially purchased a medium of this jacket. It fit well in length, but was quite baggy in the belly and arms. I ultimately exchanged for a small which fit perfectly -- even with a mid-layer puffer. With the Small jacket, a mid-layer puffer, a T shirt, and base layer I am warm even on the coldest days. That said, if needed to add a fleece, I would be able to do so comfortably. Recommendation: size down for sure. It will look and feel better, and you won't lose functionality. I wear it with the Rush pants, which I preferred to the more bellbottom-y Sabre pants.
Simple, reliable, exceptionally durable.
I have put this jacket through the ringer this season. Scraped in on hundreds of trees while riding, spilled hot coffee down the front of it on multiple occasions, rain, sleet, snow - Tahoe winter hasn't been gentle so far. It's held up wonderfully and shows little to no signs of wear.
8 years and going strong
I've been skiing in this bomber for 8 years and not even a scratch on it. Washed and cleaned as per instructions, still repelling water. Now its time for the Rush to take it's turn :)
Love this jacket
I love this jacket. It is a little heavier than the beta or rush, but has a softer flannel like laminated lining. Feels more substantial than the lighter, more technical jackets. Less crinkly when moving. Wish this model still had the chest vertical zipper pocket. Sabre pants were equally awesome but without the flannel lining. I initially bought a medium which fits me, but when I threw on a few layers of thermals and a down puffy, the medium was too small. Updated to a large which is a a little big without layering, but works better for skiing IMHO. 6’1” 86kg. Spent two days getting blasted by snow making equipment, and the sleet like stuff coated my goggles and jacket and just dusted off. Stayed warm and dry.
Bomber Ski Shell
Fits perfectly. I’m Buddha shaped so went one size up but Velcro cuffs so long sleeves no problem. Love the streamlined pockets and airtight from wind and rain / perfect for NW conditions. Slightly fuzzy soft interior and flex on outside shell - ready to up my game!
Great fit & function, and looks AMAZING
Bought my first Arc'teryx snow kit and based off reviews thought the Sabre Jacket and Bib were the best way to go. Love the longer fit, the gore is incredibly durable and held up to some strong & cold winds day 1 up on Mt Hood. I'm talking 10 degrees...Cannot wait to use this kit for the next decade ahead!
Awesome shell jacket!
I've had the jacket for a couple ski trips (one out East and another in the Rockies). The jacket held up great in a variety of weather (sunny, snowing, windy) and I never felt too hot or too cold even with lighter layering. The layer of flannel in the jacket contributes a surprising amount for warmth. Jacket obviously looks great. For sizing I ended up buying both a medium and large and ended up going with the large after trying both on. I'm 5'11" 190 lbs and have a fairly large chest (which was the issue with the medium). Feel like the large fits great. Not too baggy or long.
Very warm and comfortable. Ver satisfy.
I recently bought this jacket to go skiing in December. I love the color and the way it fits.
Must have Snow Sport Gear
Long , Durable , great Fit. I ski 4 months with it. Still loving to be in
Excellent Design
A well balanced design for both resort and backcountry skiing. Slim enough to wear with a a single base layer on warm days and also enough space for multiple insulated layers on very cold days. Love the length and cut of the sleeves that are slightly longer over the top of your hand. Vents are well placed. Climbing skins pockets are perfectly sized and positioned. Only have 10ish days of wear so far, but seems like the exterior fabric will be very durable. Only feedback for design improvement are: -The neck becomes tight when the front zipper is fully closed and hood is down while wearing a helmet. -Add even stronger fabric on the shoulders for when you're carrying skis on your shoulder (like across a parking lot) and for extended backpack use.
