Tested the 34” waist and 36” length (I’m 6’ 1” tall) and the pants fit true to size with a slightly athletic cut. The material is softer, stretchy nylon (94% nylon 6 % spandex) and surprisingly durable for how soft and think these pants feel. I appreciate the “V” style back belt loop and the button + zipper fly. Several smaller storage options adorn these pants with two front pockets (mesh-backed), and one back pocket and one thigh pocket, both of which are on the outside of the pant material. I like the number of pockets, but am not a big fan of the GIANT zippers they chose for them. Greta addition is the drawstring cuffs at the bottom of each pant leg, which is helpful for keeping out the elements. These are mildly windproof and offer next to no insulation, so keep that I mind as you layer up in cooler temps. (Note: I received free product in exchange for an honest review.)
These pants are overall a great quality product. On initial inspection they seem lightweight and not able to hold up to tough conditions, this was not the case. I have used them several times including playing a game of pickup outdoor soccer. They held up to the abuse of sliding and diving while playing goalie during the game. No tears, and the grass stains come out in the wash. They are very comfortable when hiking and general use, I appreciate that they are lightweight and not tight as well. In addition, they are true to their size. Cons I have found so far with them are the ribbons on the zippers are too long and little annoying, but they can be removed easily if desired. Also, I love having lots of pockets on my pants. There are 4 total with two size pockets, one in back and one cargo type pocket on the front thigh. I would like to have two in back and one on each thigh in the front. I do love that they are zip pockets to help keep everything that I put in safe. Overall, a great pair of pants that could be improved with a few slight adjustments.
I receive this REI pants for product review. I really like the fabric, I expose this pants through high dense woods in the dry area of west Texas with out a single rip, It was around 78/80 degrees the light weight of the fabric help a lot to keep my legs nice and cool. The color match any of my hike outdoor gear. The only down side of this pants is that I have to cut to my size they were to long even they were 32 long. I like pants with zipper in the pocket to keep secure anything in the pockets. Don't forget you can fold them and make shorts with this pants.
True to size, comfortable, quality materials, and stylish. Regular price of $100 is too much but I bought them on sale for $70 which makes these pants a good value.
Used around the house and during hike in Grand Canyon in late October. Was extremely satisfied as they were comfortable and blocked the wind enough during the cooler mornings at the rim (~40') and breathable enough at the bottom of the canyon during the heat of the day (~90'). They flex really well on trail and are very comfortable for everyday wear as well. These are now my go-to hiking pants and am probably going to by another pair.
I was a bit curious about these pant but only because it was REI. My last experience with REI brand was disappointing. These are from a different company (locally owned in San Antonio, TX!) That REI is promoting. Absolutely love them. Strong , durable, flexible and comfortable! Exactly what I was needing on my climb (limestone and granite). Going to get another pair , only because I like them so much. Great buy for me!
REI delivers. I have always had a good experience with REI products. They are comparable to the name brands in performance, but at half the price. These pants are lightweight, comfortable, durable, and the blue color gets you noticed! I like the design and the fit. I am 6’2” and 230 lbs. I wore these on a 20-mile backpacking trip and had zero issues. They are water resistant, not waterproof. The easy-glide zippers were easy to operate one-handed (I did remove the optional pulls), and I like the elastic in the waistband. Very comfortable and durable over long hauls. More expensive pants will get you a sewn-in fabric belt, or a gusseted crotch.
Really solid hiking pants! Surprisingly breathable, lightweight and durable. Although durable the fabric is a bit thin so they may not be ideal in colder climates. I got the Sea Forest ones for half off so it was a great deal
I initially purchased pants in green. I now have 2 pairs of the blue and one pair of the black pants. They are extremely comfortable. I have not yet hiked in them but looking forward to it. A few personal points: 1) The front pockets are a bit shallow but the zippers mitigate this issue 2) I like the elastic band in the waist and the belt loops. Please, please don't make these pants in the future with draw strings. They are designed to hold a lot of stuff while out hiking, etc. you need a belt for this. 3) I typically wear a 32" waist size but the 34" are a better fit for me.
Men’s version are a good fit for women as well. I tried the women’s equivalent version of these, but they were so baggy around the waist and tight at the calves. So I took a shot on the men’s version, and WOW, do they look good. So comfortable, and hugs my figure in all the right places. I’m also tall, so finding a 34” inseam is icing on the cake. Ladies, give these pants a try!
