I absolutely love the fit of this hoody for 24/25, it is flattering (skimming my torso without catching anywhere) and so comfortable to wear. The neck gaiter and hood are great. I am going to buy a second one so that I always have one ready to wear! I originally bought the Rho LT crew neck 24/25 but I really hate wearing it due to the awkward fit - I have to keep yanking at it as it rides up constantly (I had to return my usual size small due to the 24/25 unfortunate style fit change and got the medium instead) - I no longer wear it, what a waste of money. (love the 23/24 version though)
I was die-hard dedicated to merino wool until the RHO base layers came into my life. I have used the RHO lightweight hoody on expeditions to the Arctic and was amazed at how comfortable, quick drying and resistant to stink! I wore them for 2-weeks straight and they held up better than any other base layer I've ever used. They also look great, I feel like I can ski or climb in them all day and then go out to dinner after without feeling like a complete dirtbag. I work on Kicking Horse Ski Patrol and honestly wear these everyday 6 months out of the year. I have turned all my colleagues and anyone who will listen onto RHOs. If you spend real time in the elements, do yourself a favor and buy some RHO base layers.
This is a phenomenal stand alone top for portions of an activity, and layers very well once conditions drop. Built in neck gaiter and hoody are simple and highly functional. Moisture wicking, warm, and provides some protection from wind.
I really like this product from. Comfortable and it has a nice fitting. Great for walks on a chilly day , I used it at hike day and it wicks sweat away.
How is this product getting such good reviews?? Last year, I ordered the EXACT same base layers - top and bottom. What I received yesterday was absolute garbage compared to my previous purchase. The cut was smaller and very poor quality - thin and cheap. Ugh. I'm so disappointed. Back to buying Smartwool products.
The top is very comfortable & soft. The flat seams, which are a must to me, make the top easy to wear underneath a soft shell or another top. Other tops with regular seams get bunched up around the shoulder & sleeves. I’m sensitive to fabrics & this is worth every dollar! I wear a S to M but the small fit better.
I am such a fan of this top (and the Rho baselayer pants). I use them for all of my winter activities, and the Rho hoody is so flattering and chic (I have it in black), that I sometimes will throw it on with a pair of jeans and boots for a "cute apres" look as well. I find it TTS, and my athletic body likes the full range of movement and breathability, while still being warm and cozy. That brushed inside fleece is like a little hug.
I’m so happy I bought this. I love it ridiculously. It’s cozy and flattering and moves with my body so well that I barely notice I have it on. Love the hood and balaclava, and I think it has a bit of a chic turtleneck vibe when I don’t have them in use. Wish I would’ve held out for the bright pink color — so cute! I’m usually a small but I have athletic shoulders and arms so I sized up to a medium in this one. The fit is perfect.
Just got mine yesterday. Have the black and just got the hot pink. Fit is great. I ordered a medium, am 5’4”, 130#. I love the turtle neck feel and the brushed interior. Keeps me warm in my cold house and when I take my Rhodesian girl out for outings at the beach or long walks. Live in foggy colder part of CA and when coastal breezes whip up I am warm and can put the hood up.
This is a great layer for touring. I run cold and this layer is perfect for keeping me warm on the uptrack while still being breathable enough to not sweat. If there is wind, the hood and balaclava combo is perfect, and it makes it quick for me to pop my helmet on overtop for the downhill. As a bonus, this is a great layer for winter runs! Overall, I love this hoody.
