Incorrect Punch Used
Whoever is in charge of punching these before shipping them out is using the incorrect punch hole size. They are punching these with a 1/4" (6mm) hole punch instead of a 1/8" (3mm) hole punch that is supposed to be used. The oversized whole punch looks tacky and could lead to confusion on which month is actually punched. It was also punched haphazardly and through the edge of the card which could lead to the card bending/breaking. Additionally, this incorrect hole punch size is in violation of federal guidelines on park passes that stipulate: "The hole punch must be 1/8th of an inch to assure that the hole is not too big and covers only one month." Thus an incorrectly punched pass is considered a damaged pass and should be replaced to avoid adverse outcomes.

National Parks Pass

Well, it’s national parks pass. It doesn’t do much other than get you into national parks. Luckily, that’s what I bought it for, and so in that sense it fulfills it’s role in life very well. It also came with a handy rear-view mirror hanger-on-doohickey. That part is pretty alright, it lets me signal to everyone that I sprung for the America the Beautiful pass instead of just a plain old Northwest Forest Pass. It also lets everyone who sees my vehicle in a parking lot in Seattle know that I, a middle aged man in the Pacific Northwest, go into the mountains. Or something. Anyway, it’s a pretty good deal. Everyone buy one immediately.

Go visit a national park!

If you plan on visiting 1 or more national parks per year this easily pays for itself. It is also good until the last day of the same month you buy it in the following year. So if you get it on the first day of a month it's good for about 13 months. If you are 62 years or older you can get a senior lifetime pass for same price. There are some free passes for active military, a new vetern pass, and the free 4th grade pass for families.

REI helps us to see the USA

I love that I can get the America the Beautiful pass at REI!! A lot of times the National.parks are self pay and you dont have the opportunity to buy one when you arrive. I purchased one this month and took off for an adventure. I have used it to visit 6 National.Parks already and a National recreation area. It has saved me a ton of money and was super convenient to attain at my local REI!! It will also go toward my co-op dividends, an added bonus!! THANKS REI!!
