Great for Warmth and Easy to Carry Around

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this jacket for everyday wear to and from work and walking my son to school. It's the provides a good amount of warmth when it's 30 degrees outside and/or if it's drizzling. I like being cozy, which this jacket provides without feeling trapped in an oversized coat. It's also not very heavy so it's easy to carry around on my back with the provided shoulder straps. It does run a little big on size I felt. I typically wear everything large but medium fit me best for this jacket (I'm 5' 10). Of the multiple NF jackets I tried on, this one looked and felt the best. The only downside is that it doesn't have enough pockets... just very large ones.

Not the warmest BUT not the worst.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in Texas and coldest we get is 40-50 on average. Wore it on a trip to Washington DC and weather reported 5-10 degree weather and I thought perfect to wear since I was in Capitol Hill primarily for work walking on foot. As soon as I got outside aside from face freezing, I felt a draft from below and noticed more air coming walking outside. The pockets inside kept me slightly warm, still had to put gloves. Will admit it is a pretty oversized relaxed jacket which is nice but in 5 degree weather I still felt pretty cold but not freezing.

Best coat ever

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best coat I've ever purchased. The comments about it being like a sleeping bag couldn't be more true. Windproof, waterproof and warm. Its windproof ability is kind of unreal. I use hunting, outside for winter sports and day to day in frigid temps and it holds up better than anything. It gives me confidence to know I will be safe and warm and also not have to wear 3 layers underneath. Literally a t-shirt and this coat on 10 degrees is more than enough. Put up the hood and you're in your own mini shelter. Very happy with this purchase.

Warm, stylish jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jacket holds true to harsh Chicago weather. I get cold easily and can wear just a T-shirt under it and still feel warm. I'm 5'9" 163lb with an athletic build and size small fits great, with room to layer if need be. I like the range of motion my arms have so it doesn't feel bulky. I really love the fleece lined pockets and hand slit things attached to the sleeve. It also has a technical strap so if you wanted to you can take it off and carry it like a backpack, which I use a lot as well. If I had to pick one downside it's the main zipper; wish it was thicker but other than that this jacket is worth it over other really expensive brands for half the price.

Great coat! Here is my take on sizing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If this helps anyone: I'm 5'10" and 150 lbs. I'm pretty slim and always wear Medium jackets, shirts etc from all brands. Based on the reviews I read here, I sized down to Small and took a chance. It fits me perfectly. Warm, comfortable, well made, stylish. I love it, but Medium would have been sent back for being way too big. It is a "regular fit" garment, but for my slender frame it isn't too roomy or bulky. I love the four subtle large pockets, without the usual large parka-look pocket flaps. Functional and stylish, and feels very well made. I am quite pleased and very glad I decided to size down.

Warm but low quality features

After one month of ownership, I was out shopping when I needed to retrieve my wallet from the jacket's internal pocket. When attempting to unzip the internal pocket the zipper jammed and I had to rip it open in order to access my wallet and pay for my groceries! While this parka is definitely warm, it is also my last North Face product due to an apparent reliance on low quality parts.

Best Winter Jacket I've Ever Owned!

I've owned a few TNF jackets, as well as some from their competitors, and this is by far the best winter jacket I've ever owned. It's super warm and feels like a big comfy hug, while at the same time fashionable to fit just about any situation. I'm about 5'11" and medium build (around 180lbs) and I went with the medium, which fits me perfectly. The jacket has some great little pockets that are in perfect spots. The material feels extremely solid and seems like it should hold up for a long time to come. I've never felt more protected from the cold elements than in this jacket. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a serious winter jacket. Don't hesitant, just buy it, you won't regret it!

Very well built parka!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this jacket! Materials are nice, and very stylish. I feel like it's more flexible then the McMurdo and more comfortable. Very warm. The thing I don't like about traditional parkas like the McMurdo is the square pockets in the front, they're very awkward to get your hands and sleeves into, the new outer borough pockets big and roomy- easy to get your hands into. I like the hand gaiters as well. The one problem I've found is my shoulders get cold but that's cause the jacket hangs from your shoulders and compresses the down, I think you're gonna have that on just about every jacket

Good quality, but missing features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought and returned, as I expected more for the price. First as others have mentioned, the size is bigger than you think. My other North Face were Large, but this one was too big. Second, it's missing a draw cord for both the hood and waist/hem. Really hard to keep out the Wisconsin cold without those, so I returned it rather than trying a different size. Other mentionables: - I don't know who uses the fur hood liner. It clips on with buttons and seems mostly useless. - The gussets at the wrists are quite nicely done - Overall materials and feel is typical good North Face quality
