TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Yay for plus sizes IRL and not just online!

Soft, warm and fits well. I am 5'8" and sbout 245, with a large chest. I wish it was a smidge longer to cover the booty, but thats minor. Fits well under my raincoat, and breathes well.

This year’s flash hoodie is extra wide in the hip
SaMidatlantica

I own last year’s flash hoodie in another color and it fit very well. This year’s model has such a wide hip area that, even in the extra small, there’s no way it would block the wind on my frame. It’s nice, but not useful for me. If your hips are 34 inches or smaller, I would not recommend this jacket.

Great Everyday Layer

Can’t go wrong with REI Flash series. Many of their pieces have become reliable staples for me. This is simply a great little jacket. I was looking for a light but warm insulating layer to pack with me for a hiking trip in Patagonia and this fit the bill perfectly. I was very comfortable hiking in chilly (45 degrees), windy conditions. Now it’s my go-to for an everyday light insulating layer. It packs down small, keeps the wind out, and provides just the right amount of warmth for chilly but not too cold days. I am 5’4” 140 lbs. and normally wear a size small, but sized up to medium to be able to layer underneath.

Just Right

I love, love this jacket. Needed a warm jacket with good ventilation, hood, lots of good size pockets, looks great on, and protects me from wind and light rain. Very light weight but kept me warm enough. I had on a tank top and a long sleeved top under the jacket for a mid 40 degree, shady, and moderate hike. I tend to run hot so I probably would of been fine with one layer. The hybrid material under arms and sleeves made good venting when I got warm.

Great jacket!

I’m really happy with this jacket. Beefier than a rain jacket but not super puffy. I’m 5’10”, size 16/18 and busty. The 2X fits exactly how I like, roomy enough to move, pick up toddlers and slide a back pack on an off, but still fitted enough to look put together. The length on me is average length, not cropped but not long. The sleeve comes down to the top of my hands, which I like, making the thumb hole slit perfect. There is different more stretchy fabric under the arm down to the thumb slits, which is nice for air flow for your arm pits without loosing warmth. 2 inside open top pockets nice for quickly stashing rocks that my kids hand me. I like how the thumb holes are slits and lay flat and done look like holes.

Nice coat - warm, bad zipper

I really like this coat! It is much warmer than I thought it would be. I use this for neighborhood Dogwalking. The coat is fine in a light to medium rain (without a raincoat cover, and for <1 hour), also a good windbreak. Ample pocket size. The reason it doesn't get "5" stars is that the main zipper is very lightweight and hard to fasten - not at all what one would expect for an outerwear jacket from REI. Noted this problem in the store, so I ordered one online hoping to get a better zipper- but it is just as flimsy. It takes applied concentration to get the main zipper "set" correctly to zip up the coat. If REI revises this with a true "outerwear" zipper, it will get 5 stars.

Love this jacket!

This is my new favorite jacket! I love the light weight, the warmth and the fit. I can layer a shirt and fleece under it without looking bulky. I've received compliments on the style and color and, when asked what the brand is, I'm happy to say it's REI Co-op instead of a pricier brand! Highly recommended.

Great Jacket that checks the boxes for backpacking

Was looking for a synthetic-insulation packable jacket to supplement my collection of down ones for backpacking and found this on sale. Incredibly light, warmer than expected, very packable. Love the style and fit of the hood, and the stretchy material at the sides that allow your pits to breathe. Not sure I would have chosen this at full-price, but I took it backpacking and one hundred percent love it.

Cheap zipper; broke in 18 months

It's a nice, lightweight jacket to throw in a pack. However, with light use for less than 18 months, the zipper broke out of nowhere (split from the bottom up while zipped because it apparently had started to bend and separate). I think to save weight and cost they used cheap, thin, plastic zippers. REI is standing form on their updated return policy of no help after 12 months. As inexpensive as this may be, it's not worth it for 18 months of use.

The Bomb

I've not bought REI brand previously but will from now on! LOVE this Flash Insulated Hybrid; just had to get the sizing right first. I'm 5'3/5'4 @ 100lbs runner's physique and don't like things really fitted which is why I went with M. I do layer but the M was way too big. S is great (a bit roomy) as it allows layers and even the REI RevelCloud S fits under it. This jacket kept me/my core warm during my regular 45 min daily walk (I do 2 walks of that length each day (am moving at a 13min/mi)) in 12 degrees and 15+mph wind! I was sold after that! No rain/drizzle test yet. I actually bought a 2nd to have 'just in case'!!

Mediocre and could use some improvements

Purchased fall 2022 to replace 2011 Patagonia micro puff (still going strong but was dirty). Overall, prefer the old Patagonia. It was warmer and wind proof-er, and seemed even to be more water resistant than the REI. Had to size up to M from usual size S. Zipper a little small and dainty for a this time be a workhorse jacket, and therefore a little temperamental. Wish it had interior zippered stash pocket, or any interior pocket. Material darkens- likely from water, sweat, dirt- I have the forest green one and it already looks grungy. Wearing 3 months in: inside label wearing off- not that that matters much but can’t tell it’s REI anymore! Or can you...

Great Anywhere: very lightweight, comfortable.

Lightweight, warm, roomy for active movement. This really checks all the boxes for a jacket comparable to the packable down jackets. Enough room for all-around arm movements, allows me to be active without feeling any tugging by the jacket. The elastic panels are perfect. Only unknown is how it would fare in drizzly weather --- it's not made as a rainjacket but prob would do ok in light mist. I am 5'2", 100lbs, XS jacket goes just past my hips and covers half my behind. I can layer with thin (Vuori) hoodie and light polartec pullover under this jacket and not feel and still feel comfortable. Hood is a plus. I feel this jacket is lighter than my thick hoodies/bulky knit cardigans. Bottomline: super comfortable, warm/lightweight jacket. (I bought this on sale and just couldn't return it bc it's so comfortable and warm)
