I bought this Revelate pack to carry my Olympus TG-6 camera on a steel bike. The camera fits perfectly in the pack along with some padding to cushion it. The pack contents are a bit difficult to access if mounted to the seat-post so I mounted it forward at the steerer tube. Much easier to access there. My only criticism of this is pack is the long Velcro strap holding it to the toptube. My bike has a steel frame (small diameter) so there is plenty of sticky strap left over. I don't want to cut it off since I might put it on an alloy or carbon frame bike later. I tucked the strap under the bag and its mostly OK but it still wants to grab anything that comes near it. Other than this annoyance, its a great little pack.
This is a great product and works for all my repair needs, with the exception of tubes. The velcro can stick to your shorts, but once fitted for your bike, you can cut the excess off, problem solved. Definitely recommend.
These little bags, while pricey, add a great deal of value to your rig. While many riders will be fine stuffing their tools, snacks etc into their respective packs, many riders will enjoy the extra space that these bags provide. I like to ride with a fanny pack at this point as much as possible and this bag provides a solid place for all tools to go. Combined with the bag that attaches to your handlebars, these bags can house snacks and tools for a longer ride and the fanny pack can just house water. These are built plenty waterproof and durable to survive many journeys. Besides the price, the only other downside I can see is the velcro that attaches to your seatpost is quite weak, I just use a zip tie to secure it although it worked for a while. Some people will have issues with rubbing and some can handle that and others will not. If you're looking for extra space this is the bag!
It's a small bag that offers a little extra room for tools, snack, a tube, etc. Seems waterproof. Works best on bikes with sloping top tubes and generous standover clearance so the bag stays out of the way of the inside of your legs. If you're thinking of using it on a road bike, I'd look elsewhere.
I recently added the Revelate Designs Jerrycan bag to my bikepacking setup, and it has quickly become a must-have! The compact size is perfect for stashing small essentials like my multi-tool, snacks, and spare tubes. It fits securely on the top tube, right behind the seatpost, without interfering with my pedaling or comfort. Pros: Sturdy and weather-resistant Secure attachment with no movement during rides Perfect for small essentials Cons: Limited space, but expected for the size Highly recommended for anyone who needs that extra bit of storage for long rides or adventures!
Great bag that works well. I have used it for 2 Summers now on my long rides. It stays in place and is unobtrusive. Everyone will need to cut the Velcro strap to be shorter so it does not rub against your leg. I was conservative and nervous shortening it so it took me a few tries but once I got it right I had to rubbing against the inside of my thigh. I put tire and Tools in it and it Allows me To forgo my gear “bottle” and carry 2 water bottles
This is the first Revelate product that has not met expectations. After using the item for 9 days of riding it developed a hole in the corner. I assume it was from my leg rubbing it, but not sure, REI employee thought I dropped it because he thought the plastic frame was broken, but that wasn't the case, perhaps it's a design defect? So much for the 100% satisfaction guarantee, he almost wasn't going to do the return, but that's another story! Definitely a poorly designed product, that's mildly irritating in the best of circumstances.
I'm 5'3" so my seat is lower and my thighs rubbed on this bag so had to return. Might work if your thighs are not so bulky. It does hold a spare tube and tools perfectly and is well constructed. I will consider their other products.
Definitely pricey for only a liter of storage. While it's probably designed to be mounted against the seatpost, I used this as a front of the toptube bag to store tubes and tools for a long tour. The narrow profile works well with feedbags, with both the Jerrycan and feedbags mounted to a Rockgeist Spacelink on the headset.
Well designed bag. Perfect for tools, spare tube, sealant and all the extra bits that don’t have a home elsewhere. Size is perfect, small enough it is out of the way when standing over the top tube.
