Great multi-purpose helmet
This is a great multi-purpose helmet for kids. We have used it for biking mainly with our 4 y/o son, and he says that it is very comfortable. We appreciate the MIPs for added protection, as not all kids helmets have this and it is comforting to know this helmet achieves this safety standard. We have other kids helmets from Giro that are comparable, but this helmet is slightly lighter which is why we think our child prefers this helmet over the others. Having the option for affixing a head lamp is a huge bonus as weather arrives, as dusk and nighttime biking becomes inevitable and its nice to have somewhere to easily attach a bright light. The dial on the back works the same as most, comparable helmets, and closes tightly but comfortably for our son. Great helmet and I appreciate the multi-purpose nature so that it can be used for more than one activity!
Lightweight children's helmet
Tried this on my 4 y/o and he loved it but it was a little small for him, granted he is very tall for his age. My 2 year old used it for a bike ride and it fit great, was very lightweight on him! They loved the nice bright yellow color and had fun with all the stickers that came with.
Solid helmet,could use better fit for smaller kids
Like the Black Diamond stuff I use for climbing as an adult, this is solidly built product, but for kids. The helmet feels much higher quality than some of the other brands of bicycle helmet I've purchased online for my kids. The strap on the back makes fitting it snugly to a childs head easy. My only complain is there isn't enough slack in the strap to tighten it down further. My 3 year old has a large head so while the helmet fits his head well, the strap can't be tighten enough such that helmet doesnt move up and down a little less than it does. My son currently wears it to climb the little rock wall in on our swingset and to ride his power wheels stuff in the yard. I would not let him ride in a bike yet as there is still too much play but I def will trust his noggin to this helmet when it fully fits.
Great helmet for kids, especially with dual bike certification
I'll say the same thing about the adult helmets, but this get accolades for also being dual use as a bike helmet on the kids version. The Capitan is my pick for the best compromise for overall helmets. Plenty light enough for almost anything, but has hard-shell durability. The adjustment system works fine, although I'd prefer a BOA style adjustment. Really a helmet that leaves nothing to complain about.
Just what we needed
Kids Captain is great! We have some very adventurous kiddos and so having a helmet that is good for both bikes and climbing is such a great design. One less thing to pack and we get more use out of it than if we had to buy one for each sport. Great adjustability range to grow, though I do wish it got a smidgen smaller. Would love to see it in more colors as well.
Great for Protecting Little Senders Domes
Solid helmet for little climbers, love that it comes with a sicker pack, and love that they make it certified for bike riding too. Skip buying two separate helmets and just get this one!
Size Range Feels Way off
I meausred my child's head and he is in the middle of the range. The helmet's rear retention was let all the way out and we could barely buckle the chin strap. The fit just isn't right.
Awesome helmet
Great helmet and comfortable for long wear. Comes with a sticker pack but putting stickers on climbing helmets isn’t recommended.
