Good quality but imperfect design
I got this to replace a smaller saddle bag-it’s capacity is supposedly twice that of my old one, but there is ultimately very little extra space. The external dimensions are deceptively spacious but house a way smaller internal capacity (like a reverse Tardis haha) due to overly padded walls and not just one, but four internal mesh pockets. IMO all the pockets are unnecessary. The one on the underside of the lid is fine but I just need a container to shove my flat kit/multi tool and snacks into. Items will stay in place on their own without the need for organizing features. There is already an external zip pocket for essential stuff like cards/cash. All the internal pockets do is take up valuable space with the extra fabric. And the walls of the case are very thick which has a durable, high quality feel to it but ultimately I also think is unnecessary and takes up internal space. I guess I prefer an efficient, minimalist design and this one is anything but. The buckle attachments are nice, but the tightening mechanism loosens easily and the bag won’t stay tight enough on the saddle and it flops around when riding. Also there are three loops along the top side which the strap can go through to adjust how the pack attaches to the saddle, but on the one I got, the buckle on the strap will only fit through one of the three, which I guess is a manufacturing defect. This thing is getting returned.
The perfect seat pack for me!
I have bike toured through 8 countries and never once thought, "I needed a seat pack." It wasn't until receiving this seat pack as a gift that I learned it was the one thing missing from my bike touring/commuting kit. I would usually keep my spare tubes and bike tools in my bigger panniers and find myself frustrated with having to dig through everything just to find my tools to fix a flat tire or make a minor adjustment. I tried moving things to different panniers but always found that my tubes and tools just always seemed to be in the way. Once I moved my levers, multitool and spare tube into my seat pack I found it eliminated most, if not all, my frustrations around having to pull out my tools for a quick fix. The great design allows me to easily access my tools with little effort. I like this small compact bag so much that I have also started to use it during triathlons and day rides with my road bike. I can fit spare tubes, CO2 cannisters with quick pump, and tire levers easily in this seat pack and no longer have to carry them in my shirt pockets during training rides. Which is great, because now I have more room in those pockets for important things likes snacks! Also convinced my wife to get one and now we never leave for a ride without them!
Works great and looks better
I ride mostly enduro or downhill but at times I like to go on longer trail rides and really dislike putting more weight in my shoulders. So being able to strap more things to my bike (be it my short or long travel bikes) is fantastic. Now with any bag like this you need to be careful when using your dropper if you have one. However for gravel rides or even commuting this bag is fantastic. Buy with confidence Look up videos on you tube to see the bag ! Pictures don’t do it justice !!!!!!
