3 bags broken in the same place
I just purchased my 4th one of these travel cases in the last 18 months. All 3 of the previous bags are unusable because of a broken plastic piece where the fork of the bike attaches to the stand in the bag. This is obviously a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately this is the only bag on the market that can handle a downhill mountain bike. My son races professionally and uses this bag to take his bikes on 30-40 trips per year. The most recent bag we purchased lasted 2 flights before breaking in the same place as the others. If you have a bike that will fit in any other travel case you should get something else, this one will break. Luckily REI is an amazing company and stands behind what they sell. Thule does not.
Broke on first use - Very disappointed
Purchased this bag and it ripped first use. REI would not refund it and called it wear and tear. The bike case was loaded under the weight limit and the straps ripped off on the very first flight we took it on. Not worth the money.
Great Mountain Bike Bag
This is a great mountain bike bag with small stand to help assemble and disassemble. The stand adds extra weight to the bag, so be aware of weight when you pack for the extra airline fees. The interior padding for tires and velcro strapping for handle bars were intuitive. The third wheel in front adds to the mobility of this bag. Be sure to remove it when you check your bag in otherwise it will fall off or break. I love this bag and it will get a LOT of use!
Expensive, High Quality - Very Limited Utility
Awesome quality and design. But not useful. It’s too big for most airlines to check as baggage. The soft sides limit its ability to protect your bike as it could easily be crushed. The case itself is heavy and adds significantly to the overall weight once loaded. The build quality is great and somewhat well thought out. But, practically speaking, it’s hard to imagine where this could best be utilized. I wound up returning it.
Expensive
The most expensive MTB soft case on the market. My bike is a Bold(Scott) 29er MTB, I have to disassemmble the brake shifter from the handlebar in order to fit the case.
This is a stand out review title
The Roundtrip MTB fit my 29x2.4" full suspension no problems. It's held up fine to three trips. The removeable work stand is handy. Thanks Thule! Only caution is I paid overweight fees 3/3 trips.
