Great Gaiter but under-strap is weak
It is a very effective hiking gaiter, the only "con" I had was that the "DuraLink Instep Strap underneath easily wore out on one of my shoes before the end of the hiking season. Kahtoola does sell replacement straps for $4.95 on their website, but it still was disappointing they gave out so soon! It's also a bit annoying that REI doesn't carry these replacement straps. I've used simple parachute cord underneath other gaiters that nearly lasted an entire Appalachian Trail thru-hike, so I think they need to go back to the drawing board with their under-strap design. Unfortunately, this gaiter design doesn't allow you to affix parachute cord underneath. Hope they come up with a better under strap system because this is otherwise a great gaiter.
Excellent product
Fantastic product. I've been using a previous iteration of these gaiters for a couple of years now. I bought this on the off chance that the pair I have wears out. I must admit that I don't see that happening any time soon. I use these to keep dirt, small stones, and twigs from getting into my trail runners or low cut hiking shoes. For this use, these gaiters shine. This latest pair is even easier to get on than the older ones. The strap that goes under the shoe is holding up very well, though I'm sure, at some point in time, it will wear through (thus, the new pair). TL;DR Buy these if you don't like stuff getting into your running shoes or low cut hikers.
Kahtoola RENAgaiter Low Gaiters are the best!
I hike in Keene Voyager shoes that are low, so I often get stones in my shoe and have to stop to clear them. I purchased the Kahtoola RENAgaiter gaiters to deflect these stones and wore them for training hikes and for the Bataan Memorial 26.2 mile march. They served my purpose perfectly. Easy to put on, comfortable to wear, even easy to adjust shoe laces when they are on. I recommend them!
