Sturdy and Waterproof
The build quality of this item is top notch. Stainless steel bottom with rugged, grippy, rubber lid. This seems best suited for small items in your pack/bag/purse/whatever that need to be protected from moisture and/or being crushed. If you've got certain snacks that have a tendency to get crushed or smushed when kept in a ziplock bag, this would be a good alternative. Same goes for medications that are susceptible to the elements. One word of warning about the 100 mL size is that it's a small volume. I wouldn't expect to carry significant amount of food/snacks in a container this size. Having said that, I used it to take a small snack (goldfish crackers) to my kid's swim class. The snack remained dry, uncrushed, and readily available for the ride home. This will never be as light as a ziplock bag, so the ultralight folks may look elsewhere, but if you have a small perishable item that is essential to your adventure, this might be just the right tool for you.
Useful for Particular Items
This is a well made, handy little waterproof canister. You'll want to wash it out before use, but once clean its a great option for keeping various items secure, safe and dry. The lid is thick rubber, and does not rip or tear. The metal bottom is pressed well with no defects or sharp edges. You can "burp" the lid evacuating the air inside, and it will hold, demonstrating its airtight qualities. You can hold it underwater and it does not leak. The metal bottom adds a level of crushproofing, that could see this canister being used for small delicates that need to be safe from rough handling as well as dry. Ear buds One might use this as a place to store petroleumed-cotton, lint, or fatwood shavings for tinder, along with matches, small ferro rod and striker. You could stuff a bunch of fire kit type items in this. Maybe you're cooking and you want to keep those all important cooking herbs nice and dry. Sure they'll probably be in a bag themselves, but those cooking herbs need to be not crushed, and maybe have the waterproof lid reduce their scent, don't want to attract bears with your cooking herbs. Bottom line is I don't know what you want to put in this, but if you want a well made container that will provide water and crushproofing while in your pack on adventures, you can certainly feel confident in including the Matador Travel Canister as an option as it is a well made product that is of the quality level you would want it to be.
Handy reusable container for the smallest of items
This travel canister is sleek, relatively small (fits in my palm), and handy. It's a great, reusable way to store your important items you don't want to risk getting wet, like jewelry or medication (pills/vitamins). It's too small for any snacks or large paperwork, but for the smallest of items, it works fine. The silicone lid seals well over a stainless steel container. I'd personally use a dry bag if there was any chance of it being submerged, as the lid could potentially get pushed up if something else in your pack rubbed against it in just the wrong way, but for downpours while backpacking or outings, this should do the trick.
Not for me, I’d use Pelican
I can’t figure out how I’d use this form factor for waterproof storage. The interior is part rubber (the top) and part metal. One suggested use is for keeping jewelry dry, but I’d think you’d need to store the jewelry in something soft. Then you’re carrying jewelry in a soft container inside this small container? Why? That said, the biggest issue I have is with the rubber top. It uses an interference fit to stay in place. It unclear if the rubber used would expand over time or in certain circumstances. It doesn’t lock closed, so it’s far inferior to similar options from Pelican. Why would I use this instead of a small container from Pelican? I have no idea.
Light and effective, but an odd size
I thought I could use this container as a secure, traveling pill case. It turned out to be a little big for that, and I'm not sure how best to use it. It is light, and the lid is very secure, so it's a quality item, I just am not sure what niche it fills. It would probably be great to use for holding a thick gel or creme - hair product, or chamois creme for cyclist.
Great for Travel and on the go
Matador Waterproof 100ml Travel Canister is a great little can for on the go traveling and on the go carrying for little items. So far I found that it is perfect for carrying little training treats for my two little doggies. The canister weighs 2.12 oz and is very lightweight, and doesn't weigh down my pack at all. I usually carry a fanny pack on walks and it fits right in. The lid to the product is my first notable feature, it feels snug and very secure. Waterproof rating is IPX7 which is submersible up to one meter for 30 minutes. So if I am kayaking and happen to fall in I know my items will be secure inside. There is a pull tab to release the seal which is great if you don’t have nails - I trim mine on trips for hiking. This is a great feature! Its TSA compliant which is really nifty! I always appreciate this! I travel a lot - most often by jeep - but when I do fly I try to use a carry on only as much as possible. I can see myself using this for jewelry - I don't have anywhere else to put mine when I travel. I also take migraine medication and this could be a great location to put them since its waterproof and has a tight seal. I could also but little hiking snacks - energy chews, espresso beans, candies, or something similar. It makes for easy access it I need something quick and don't want to unwrap a snack or take too long to stop.
Great for Guaranteed Dry Storage
If you need a rugged and small waterproof storage on a hike, this little Matador works great. I used it for meds over a 5 day backpack and day hike trip and had no problems. If you are picky about pack weight, it comes in at 3 oz. but makes up for it in sturdiness. Unlike a zip-lock, it will last forever and always trusted to keep your item dry.
Simple, Good
Easy to use, ridiculously light, deceptively roomy. It keeps water out perfectly from my experience.
Great little container
This little guy is for sure water proof. Would be great for pills or jewelry for traveling. Just honestly feel like it's a bit unnecessary and you would be fine using a small tupperware. To each their own!
Great for camping
The container worked well and was nice to bring with hiking and camping. The size of the container is nice to put smaller items in like pills and headphones, jewelry etc. So far has worked well but might pop up the silicone lid if packed in with other items and it gets caught on them. Overall works well and haven’t had any problems with the waterproofness.
