Love these shoes! They fit like a glove and barely any break-in period. I typically wear a women's 8.5 and went with a 9.5 in these… for a more comfortable fit, I’d recommend sizing up 1.5. I bought these in May and I am already looking to get them resoled due to a small hole in the toe. I indoor climbing 1-2 a week, so I really would have expected them to last longer. But all around great shoe.
Size up 2 full sizes for comfort and 1.5 sizes for aggressive and performance fit.
If you are a guy looking for an aggressive shoe with a low volume heel, these might be for you. My heel would slide in the shoe with most Sportiva shoes, even with a pretty severe downsize. With these I’m doing much better on technical heel hooks. Overall a great, durable shoe for indoor climbing (can’t speak to outdoor performance)
Like many, I was a couple years into indoor bouldering and was looking for an upgrade to my tarantulaces. I like them a lot and they are such a great and comfortable shoe. But after going barefoot much more day to day, my feet spaced out and they were too small. Like most La sportiva's it was better for skinnier feet. Of course the next thing I tried was the La Sportiva's Skwamas. I have wide feet, a small heel, and a moderate arch. So, it was just a terrible fit. Lots of pressure on my achilles, dead space. I'm sure it was a great shoe but wasn't for me! I went to REI and decided to just try as many on instead. That really is the best way to go. all good shoes are great the better it fits. I read that the Evolve Shaman's were a good aggressive option for wide feet, but also read that the Shaman's wear out faster and that it wasn't great with smearing. Thus, I overlooked it, until I tried it on and realized that it was the first shoe that felt like it really fit! i had some doubts when i first climbed in them though. But, I realized why the break-in period is important to get past (which is why REI is the only retailer that I would ever buy from!) For durability, I've been climbing indoor bouldering 2-3x/week for almost 6 months now and it show no signs of wear and tear. Smearing was definitely not great out of the box. For the first three months, it was a bit slippery but now that the bottom is a bit worn in, it's great!! no issues there. Great friction. Now that i know that, I'll probably see if I can stand a on more volumes for awhile to wear it in faster. I've worn it for 2+ hours and haven't had any issues. Super happy with it!
I thought this less than a year ago and they been an easy favorite. Reliable, trustworthy shoe, on the smallest feet. They began to wear down after use of 4 months of causal use. I have two pairs scarps and this shoe. I think these are overall comfortable compared to my scarpas.
I have wide front-foot and very narrow heel, when I try other brands, there’s always a big empty space in the heel box which makes it impossible to heel hook; my friend recommended this pair to me and wow, they fit my feet so perfectly!
my search took a long time but i love these shoes and i'm on my second pair. getting my first pair resoled. i have narrow feet and really needed low volume shoe that was actually low volume.
I wanted to like these shoes but they're too small; I went a whole size up and still too uncomfortable to actually climb; I could barely walk around in them also
I bought them after using Evolv Shakra for three years. They are even better. My regular size is 38, and I wear the same size for Shamans but it took me a while to break them in.
Runs smaller than other climbing shoe brands, however the size guide is very accurate.
