If you are looking for a light-weight rain jacket that gets wet inside due to your own perspiration, this will suffice. That said, it is overpriced when compared to rain gear available at discount stores that perform the same function.
The zipper gets caught on the jacket’s material and jams if you are not careful when you attempt to zip it. If you try to quickly zip it, it just gets stuck. In humid conditions the jacket does get wet inside. It does have nonadjustible vents over the shoulder blades, but they don’t appear to help much. I think if you are looking for a really functional rain jacket, look for one that has the pit zips. I have been using it about a 35 to 45 degree range. Wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath the jacket, it is comfortable to wear. But on the trail I would want a more functional jacket.
The jacket is perfect for me. I wanted light weight and well made. The hood needs a better way to cinch. It doesn’t allow you to fix the tension around your head. In a high wind this is a problem. It is however very waterproof.
This is a nice jacket for light rainy day walks, but it's not for backpacking. I've used it for both. I was caught in a serious downpour in the Sierra's this summer. The jacket soaked through. And it's definitely not quick to dry. All of my other gear dried out and I was still carrying this wet raincoat in my pack. That said, I will still happily use it around town and during commutes to work.
The sizing is tight (“follows contours of the body…”? It’s more like a rain shirt, about one size tighter than advertised measurements—no way I’ wear this with a sweater). The garment itself feels fragile, like not a great improvement over wearing a plastic garbage bag—the latter of which would be more packable. Disappointing.
High quality , lightweight , well constructed rain jacket that packs up for portability. Will fit in my bike pack perfectly!
Great fit, great look. Really liked being able to roll up into pocket, and it shook right out
Awesome rain wear, light weight and easy to wear. Packed down small enough to fin in my backpack
It was a present for my nephew. He absolutely loves it works well fit really well.
Nice rain protection gear by REI. Look forward to using this apparel.
