Great Backpacking Boots - Available in WIDE!
Took a chance on this boot...and I'm glad I did! Didn't have much time to break them in before my wife and I took a multiday backpacking trips to the Tetons and the Wind River Range, and they did not disappoint! These boots are made in Germany, and they ooze quality - leather, hardware, stitching/construction, all top notch! I love the roller ball system, good pressure distribution over top of your foot. Locking lace hooks at the instep and cuff allow you to tailor the fit/lace tension. The X lacing system is brilliant, allows you to control the tongue of the boot both vertically and laterally. I ordered the wide version, and be aware, this model fits differently than the Renegade from LOWA in wide! I tried the Renegade first, and almost pass over these but they must be built on a different last, because they fit wider than the Renegade. If you've got a wide foot with a squared off toe box, these might be the boots for you! Vibram soles were super grippy, even after a hail storm in the Winds turned the trail into a icy/wet and muddy mess. If I have one beef, these things aren't light, but they do feel super supportive on your feet. These LOWA boots get 10/10 from me, super happy!

Great fit but Lowas don’t last
I’ve used the very comfortable Renegade GTX Mid for years. I’ve bought three pairs, since the soles delaminate after about 2 years of moderate to heavy use. I got tired of these frequent expensive purchases, since REI does not warranty them for longer than one year, so I bought the Camino GTX, a much beefier boot. They fit great. I hoped they would last longer but nope. One boot has delaminated after one year and seven months. They -can- be resoled by Lowa but you have to pay postage to send them to Stamford CT, pay $140, they send them to Germany for repair, then sent back to you. But it will take up to 16 weeks OR MORE to get them back. So take this into account if you hike or backpack a lot.

I'll purchase from Re/supply again!

These are very well made, sturdy and very good looking. I bought them used from re/supply and wanted to show an example of moderately used. I am VERY pleased with the condition of these boots. I was hesitant to purchase "moderately used" boots. But with a member discount, I got them for $111. I figured... why not. I'm ecstatic that I did and what I got. And being Lowa, there's many years left in these bad boys. If you're on the fence with re/supply... just get em.

Nice hiking boot

Very comfortable boot. I have done two 4 mile hikes and they are breaking in nicely. Good grip on rocky trails and is providing plenty of ankle support.

High expectations

Just received my new pair of Lowa’s, And I absolutely love them I’ve tried many other pairs backpacking boots on recently. I’m very-picky, In particular when it comes to my boots. The lower backpacking, and hiking boots always Feel the most supportive and all-around comfortable hot and cold keep you warm in the Winter and your feet breathe well and summer. I work in construction I’ve had foot surgery 10 years ago. Doctor suggested I find pair of hiking boots, and they would support my foot much more and he was right. I’ll always wear hiking boots every day for the rest of my life most likely they’ll say Lowa on the side of them.

Uncomfortable

I bought mine from lowa's website and while one boot is perfect, the other has all the padding in the tongue bunched up to one side pinching my foot and toe even if the shoe is so loose i cant walk properly. $400 and they dont consider this a warranty claim. I am beyond mad, and strongly urge people not to buy any of their products. For that price, they should be sending out quality items, not what i ended up with. used them for nearly 6 months, the spiky padding didnt flatten out and I regret spending a this much money on what i believe is a trash product with poor quality control. Dont make my mistake.

Run narrow and low volume

Decent quality but too narrow and low volume for my foot. I normally wear a 13 or 14 depending on the manufacturer. I returned these as although they had plenty of length, they were too tight across the top of my foot (over the arch). I was wearing a lightweight sock and still had no room. I ordered the 14 wide to give me more volume, but I'd say the wide is only about a regular width compared to most other footwear. I was a little dismayed that REI shipped me a pair of very expensive boots unwrapped, and with no manufacturer's box. They appeared to be a floor model that had already been tried on by customers. That's a little off-putting on a $350 boot.

Das Boot

Great hiking/trekking boot. I feel that they run a bit narrow. I usually wear a regular "D" width with all of my other shoes, with this boot I needed a wide version. Other than that this boot feels great it's like your foot and boot are one. Great support all around and very sure footed feeling. My wife and I do local hiking and we just did a 7 mile hike in the Hiawatha National Forest in Upper Michigan on our Mackinac trip. These Lowa boots performed like a charm. Next year we plan on hiking the Cascade/Lake Solitude trail in Grand Teton Nat'l. Park.....can't wait!

Solid Stability and Superior Make

I ordered the Camino EVO GTX and Zamberlan Vioz GTX. I tested both at home for about two weeks. I kept the Camino and returned the Vioz. The Vioz looks like a dress boots out of the box and it was recommended by the salesperson as one of their most popular. I bought the Camino online after some online sleuthing. The Camino is a more ruggedly good looking shoe but not as refined looking out of the box as the Vioz. Ultimately, I choose the Camino because it was amazingly comfortable right out of the box. My feet felt more stable in it and it felt like it was custom made for my meet. I wore both boots for about eight hours daily with a thicker merino wool sock. My feet moved around quite a bit in the Vioz and there were more hot spots. And the more I wore the Camino the more the looks of it wore on me. They felt solidly made and felt more supportive than the Vioz. The Vioz is not bad, but it lacked the superior fit and comfort of the Camino. Also, both were equally priced at about $350.

solved my achilles tendonitis problem -- I'm back!

Last year I retired and took the opportunity to crank up my hiking miles - but after 800 miles with my previous boots I ran into achilles tendonitis problems. Very sad, I thought my hiking days were over. Every mid-height and light-weight boot I tried in the store now hurt my tendon. But then I tried these cushy Caminos -- wow, they felt great in the store -- and now that I've put 350 hilly miles on these new boots I can report my tendonitis problems are solved. Thank you Lowa engineering -- I'm back!
