Bottom cracked open from 3 feet drop in my kitchen
I really enjoy the size of this nalgene water bottle. I bought three of them. I am disappointed though because I had a full 16 oz water bottle, and dropped it from 3 feet or so off the ground on my kitchen floor and the bottom failed and cracked open. Water everywhere. I tried taking it back to REI to exchange it and they refused, they said because I dropped it it was not a defect. I get it, I'm not going to fight over a $6 ish water bottle on sale. I've never had a nalgene fail like this though, so IMO it seems like it was defective. But I get it, on sale it's a $6 ish water bottle. I am re-thinking the nalgene quality and REI return policy. The water bottle says in big letters on it "REI SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" :-)
Small but surprisingly useful
Good little water bottle. Small enough to fit in a standard cup holder. Not too heavy to carry around even when full, in a purse or backpack. Best part: Easily cleaned in a dishwasher!! I wish Nalgene made one same narrow shape but taller. But this has been way more useful than I thought. I also have the 32 Oz for when I just need kore capacity, like when going to the pool on a hot day. But for going around town or out somewhere I can refill easily, this one is great.
Nice and easy but fragile
Was awesome and easy to have around but I dropped it 2 ft and it completely shattered
Good pack bottle but only upright
Handy open mouthed bottle served me well. It fits my pack pocket nicely. My only issue is that if tilted it can seep a little.
Great little bottle
We buy these to use on our mountain bikes. Larger bottles don't work, and we don't like any of the pop-top styles they make for bikes. Those sippy-type tops are too hard to clean. We opted for this style, and it works of course if you get off the bike. Takes two hands to open but that's ok. The only issue is that this top is tough to wash as well. We ride on dusty trails and the dust builds up around the lip that the lid tether fits over. Getting this tether off the bottle is difficult, but it's even tougher to get back on. It's still a great bottle for our needs.
Rei-printed bottles have low quality print
The print and measurements on the side of the REI-printed nalgenes are lower in quality than a regular nalgene and wipe off too easily. I bought these to roughly measure water for boiling mountain house meals, but it's useless now. I have an older normal nalgene with tons of scratches that has no issues.
Small, But Cute!
I was surprised to see how small the bottle actually was in person. When the bottle was labelled as a 16-oz-bottle on the website, I assumed the markings went up to 16 oz. I didn't realize 16 oz meant the maximum capacity, which was a little misleading. Every other website or store that I've shopped at for Nalgenes labels the capacity up to the maximum marking, which made this one a little misleading. To be fair though, I wasn't paying too much attention to the pictures, which clearly show that the markings go up to 14 oz. Overall, it's still a very cute design and has a unique color combination that can't be matched anywhere else! Since I got this bottle more for the look and to have a smaller bottle to carry around at college anyways, I'm still satisfied with this product.
Excellent for hiking with kids!
This is a great option when hiking with kids! The bottle is lightweight, so they can carry it full of water, and it holds 16 oz. which is more than most other brands' "kid" bottles. It won't keep water cold like an insulated water bottle, but my kids didn't mind much. I also really like the screw on lid instead of a sports cap because we can close it securely and not have any leaks! It's a little small for me, so I won't be hiking with it myself, but my 4 and 6 year olds did great with these bottles!!
It's a Nalgene, how can you go wrong.
I just had to buy this when I saw it in REI's North Conway, NH store. I wasn't looking for anything when I entered the store, just visiting, but when I saw this with the REI logo, I had to buy it. How could you not buy it, it's a Nalgene and it's got a REI logo. It's only 16oz. so I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with it, maybe carry emergency items, a first aid kit, maybe just to carry in the Winter to make Hot Cocoa, then again it may just sit on my shelf to look at.
like the size but it leaks
I will continue to use this bottle because I like the size, plus no taste. But it definitely leaks a bit and that's not good—perhaps when water "expands", e.g., with heat or going up in elevation.
