Great all around jacket
I used this jacket for an 11 day trip climbing Denali. It was the perfect layer to keep you warm while moving on the glaciers and fight off the chill. Even wore it on the summit day as an outer layer. The only thing I noticed is the jacket material started to pile up where my pack was sitting. Over all a great jacket with the right amount of stretch. I am 5'6 150lbs and the small is a perfect fit. I have a 6' wing span and the sleeve length is perfect. I have another Ferosi in a medium and it drowns me.
Go-to jacket for backcountry skiing, climbing, and hiking
This is my go-to ski jacket for most activities! It's highly breathable and a lightweight softshell. I predominately do backcountry skiing in the Colorado Rockies and wear this as my every-day winter and spring ski jacket. It's got enough waterproof for our lightweight snow, but it could get soaked on the high precipitation days. It also has 2 drop pockets that allow you to drop your gloves or skins into. If you're too hot, you can unzip the 2 waist pockets and the chest pocket for extra ventilation. It's also super durable. I often ski in tight trees, and skin around trees, and have ripped many jackets and clothes. This doesn't have a single tear despite wearing it 2-3 times a week for the past year. On climbing, I do a lot of trad climbing and have yet to get a hole in this jacket despite all the jamming and rubbing on rock. I haven't put this through any Chimneys and Offwidths yet though.
Great Top Layer for the Crag
I used this hoodie out at the crag on Vancouver island last weekend. The weather was cloudy with the occasional drizzle and 10 degree C. The Hoodie kept me cool during the climbs and the approach; while keeping me warm while belaying half way up the wall. The drizzling rain beaded nicely on the hoodie keeping me dry but I wouldn't expect it to keep me dry long in a downpour. Initial durability seem good. I took a fall and neither the sleeves nor my elbows show any wear. The length is nice to tuck in under a harness. To note the cuffs are not adjustable. They have an elastic that keeps them at a slightly looser than ideal in my mind size. They do however allow enough space to be comfortably pulled up the forearm. I am 180cm and 81kg. I initially bought a L since I have a L Vigor Hoodie. However, I ended up exchanging it for a M (in pictures) for a slimmer fit. The M still allows enough space to layer a M Trail Mix Hoodie beneath it.
Great All-arounder
Like others have noted the Ferrosi Hooded Jacket has an athletic fit. I am 5'6" 155 LBS with a 31" waist and own a size small for both the Hooded and regular(No hood) Ferrsoi. I have noticed this Hooded version is just a tad bigger and offers a little more room underneath than the non-hooded version. The sleeves do seem to be a little longer than necessary but the elastic keeps them at the wrist and they don't bunch up there awkwardly like you would expect. The athletic fit still allows for a layer underneath on my frame, and the stretchy material helps with that (Thee hooded jacket allows a little more bulky layers than the non-hooded version).
Favorite Softshell
The Ferrosi jacket has been my go to jacket for backcountry skiing in Colorado. I run on the hotter end of the spectrum and require very breathable gear. The Ferrosi jacket has been a fantastic layer to fit my needs. I used a previous version of this product for 5+ seasons and the new one has an improved fit, uses a more flexible fabric and is more breathable. It has also doubled as a great layer for biking when wind and light rain is in the forecast. The jacket allows me to work hard and still be comfortable in a layer that will protect me from the elements. I am 5'11" 180lbs, chose a size large and could not be happier with the fit.
Soft shell foray jacket
Bought for hunting in southern Alberta. For cutting wind and shoulder season sleet and mild rain. Dries quick on the multi-day trips. Light weight. Wear it alone on a cool morning in the summer, or toss a micropuff underneath it and be good for a - 20C day. I still carry a exterior storm shell as a last resort but seldom have to put it on over top of this. I was under the impression it was an insulated jacket when I bought it which it is just a thin soft shell. With proper treatment it will continue to shed water well. I am 6ft1inch, 194lbs a large fits well with room underneath for a Baselayer hoodie and a thin micropuff for the really cold days. Would get again.
Great everyday jacket.
Extremely lightweight and wind resistant. This jacket does a great job as an insulating layer or by itself on days where it is cooler but not cold. Great everyday jacket to have on hand in case the weather changes suddenly. Not waterproof but resistant to an extent. Honestly a great jacket that is comfortable 9-12 months out of the year depending on where you live. I would get your true size with this, so you can use it as a layer if needed. I am 5'11 and 185 with an athletic build and the medium was perfect. If you want more room in the sleeves, then you may want to size up. The sleeves seem to be more form fitting.
Great Hoodie
Does a great job at blocking the wind, and I haven't had any issues with rain getting through yet (long term drizzle or a few minutes in heavy rain). I was worried it'd be super loud and crinkly like the last windbreaker I owned back in the 90's, but they've come a long way since then. It's so light that I hardly notice I'm wearing it, and it's roomy enough it doesn't restrict movement at all. I'm 5'8 and 190 and went with a large; there's room for layers underneath but it's not too baggy without them. With moderate activity and the mega mix fleece, it's been good down to freezing temperatures. It's pretty much replaced most of my other jackets unless the weather is terrible.
Ferrosi jacket... the perfect do everything bombproof light shell
This piece has completed my collection. I have shorts, pants, and now a jacket. All of these items are the first thing that reach for when heading out. The material is perfect for climbing. It stretches more than I imagined, is highly breathable yet blocks the wind, and even sheds light precipitation. It is built to have your arms up for climbing, out for biking and perform flawlessly for everything else. The hood is perfect to hide your head from the sun/rain/snow, but does not interfere with your vision. Thumb holes are placed well for the extra coverage. The chest pocket will fit a bigger phone but does not interfere with pack straps. Get yourself one, you will be impressed.
unbelievably good soft shell
I originally bought this jacket for a casual soft shell to wear around town when neither my gortex hard shell nor puffy were needed. When I opened the box, my first thought was to return it. It’s more like a shirt than jacket and you can actually see daylight thru it. But I’m very glad I decided to keep it as it’s an amazing layer. The jacket reminds me of Bilbo / Frodo’s mithril coat. It is paradoxically incredibly breathable and weather resistant- all while weighing next to nothing. I used it above tree line in temps in the 20s with 40+ mph winds with only a light weight merino long sleeve underneath and I was comfortable while moving. I used it for skinning 8400 vert over -12 miles when it was 32 F and puking warm, wet, heavy snow all day. All is had underneath was a merino tshirt and I was warm / comfortable all day. My friends were constantly swapping out dry layers and jackets but I never needed to change anything. I cannot think of many snow situations where I will want my hard shell again. My only minor nit pick thus far is the lack of structure in the hood brim. It would be nice if that was a little more defined. I’m about 195 lb and the large is a great fit. I can wear a couple layers underneath and not feel like sausage. It easily fits under my puffy and my hard shell.
