Fjallraven  Expedition X-Latt Insulated Vest - Men's

Very comfortable vest, packs down smaller than a 1L bottle into its own chest pocket. I like the waist hem tightening system where the excess cord ends up in the 2 outside pockets; that way there is no excess cord hanging below the hem to get snagged. Shoulder holes do not have elastic, which I like. Excellent quality that served me well on a 12 day Europe trip with coldest temps around 40F.

I recently purchased this vest from REI because it ticked off all of the boxes I was looking for: Double zipper on the front, chest pocket for mobile phone, zippered side hand pockets and it can be packed into its own pouch. It is light weight and warm and exactly what I was looking for. The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the front zipper. It's on the left side instead of the "traditional" right side. Not a big issue, but when I have zipped it up, I've found that I need to be careful so it doesn't catch/jam the thin poly material. These are small quibbles, but since the Fjallraven vest is valued at a premium price I expected everything to work flawlessly. It is possible to purchase a couple of "fast-fashion" vests for the price of this one, albeit with some of the features missing. I still expect to enjoy it as the days get cooler, and be careful when I zip it up. It is a well-made, quality garment, with a small design flaw.

Fits close to the body and leaves foom for movement and more layers. Great vest for tall and fit

I bought this after trying a couple of competitors' brands similar vests that didn't fit well - too big and too small. This vest is perfect. Light weight and yet still robust. I tried it on first with a relatively heavy sweater underneath, and it worked perfectly. Love the inside chest pocket as my phone always goes there. I bought navy blue, and it has a bit more sheen (but not too much) than the picture shows. I was hoping for that as had seen the black version in a store and liked the striking slight sheen. I don't think you can go wrong with this, for outdoor activity or just casual wear which is what I'll use it for. I'm an athletic 5'8" and 170 pounds with 32" waist and 40" chest, and medium is perfect. Also $55 less expensive than the two competitors I tried.

Thin for wear under other coat or jacket if needed. Odd left-side zipper.

I was really looking forward to getting this vest, as I love my Fjallraven jackets which fit perfectly and are very comfortable. The Expedition vest, however, was too large on me and was very thin. I wanted a lightweight vest rather than a down one, but this felt like wearing a piece of paper. I'm hoping Fjallraven redesigns this vest or offers new options for lightweight vests soon.

Bought this as a last minute vacation item for London in the spring. It served me well. Very lightweight and packable. It was a great layering item to keep me warm. Not heavy, perfect for under a coat or on it's own.

Very much my go-to vest. I really enjoy it for just being home or for hiking. It feels a bit light in padding around the neck, but other than that, it's awesome. Sizing, I am 5'11 and 170, and the medium fits well.

6'1" 175 lb and medium is most brands, but the small is perfectly tailored, if you prefer a baggier fit go medium. Great weight for spring/fall in the southeast US. Color, details, and quality are all excellent.
