The jacket seemed well made and I wish it had worked out for me. Unfortunately I am stuck at a size where large is often too small and XL sometimes too big. I took a shot and ordered a large. Too small even with only a t-shirt underneath. Might want to keep that in mind when ordering.

Not really waterproof

The good: nice looking, good design and fit for layering, soft fabric. The bad: DWR isn’t durable, jacket wets out quickly and stops being waterproof.

I thought this would be the one.

The hood is rather large, has no structure to hold it out of your face and the front scinch strings have no way to hold them tight when pulled. Oddly, the rear strings have spring friction drags 5o hold them when pulled. I have had this for 3 weeks and worn it 4 times. Ten minutes in today's light PNW rain seeped through, leaving my chest and shoulders wet.

Soaked right through.

This is my first Outdoor Research purchase, and I have to say, I'm quite disappointed. For context, I normally purchase Arcteryx and North Face for my gear, and I figured I try something new this time. I brought this jacket on my latest trip to Japan in case I had to deal with any rainy days. Unfortunately, I had a few rainy days, and this jacket soaked right through. Note it wasn't even torrential rain, the jacket soaked right through, and I was wet from my shoulders down. Needless to say, I was super disappointed and would not recommend this jacket to anyone, especially when you consider the price tag. This product does not perform as advertised.

Not for rainy days.

Good for rainy sunday walk, not for hiking. I got completely socked in it in two hours. The fabric is not breathable and the full pitzips are not enough to compense that lack of breathability. Avoid this jacket on multiday trip.

Not Water Proof as advertise

I was initially attracted to this jacket due to its appealing aesthetics, comfortable fit, and high-quality material. I intended to use it as a backup for my backpacking trips, specifically as a safeguard against unexpected rainy weather. However, my first experience with it was a disappointment as it failed to live up to its advertised waterproof capabilities. Despite being marketed as a waterproof and breathable garment, made with Gore-Tex material, it allowed water to seep through during my initial usage. Everything else - the design, the look - was up to standard, but the jacket faltered on its most crucial feature: waterproofing. This issue arose not once, but twice, in the only instances that I had used it. Considering the price tag, I had higher expectations for this product. The jacket's inability to deliver on its key selling point was a considerable letdown.

GORETEX fail

Got this jacket after my REI goretex failed last Monday. I wanted to love it. First 2 hours in pnw rain, goretex proved useless yet again. Love the REI return policy. They get the star.

Great jacket! Had one stolen and bought another. It’s more on the light weight side and packs down to a good size while maintaining enough material to feel durable. No holes or tears after several falls. No issues with the waterproofing.

Let it rain!

What a great raincoat. While I already own another OR raincoat, this is an upgrade for me. I also sized up to a 3 XL (Im 6-4, 230 with long arms) so I could wear this over my nano puff jacket in early spring/late fall. I spent well over an hour on Valentines Day chopping ice in a very cold (34°) steady rain with a raw north wind. I stayed completely dry and warm. The long full side pit zips will be awesome during warm humid hikes this summer. Nice big zip pockets, large chest zip pocket and adjustable hood. Also extremely light weight and compact for your backpack. Im very happy with my purchase!

Well made jacket with great venting.

Bought this as a general purpose shell. It is best suited for warmer weather but I wanted it for cross country skiing as well so I bought a size larger than usual for layering. So far have only used it once for skiing. With a reasonably heavy fleece under it, it worked perfectly on a sunny, windless, 8 degree day. I was perfectly warm and even had to open the side vents a bit to cool down! (Those unusually long side vents are one reason I bought this jacket!) Have not yet tried it in harsher weather. One concern is that the zippers seems rather light. Hopefully they will last.

I would buy it again. Fit for purpose.

I am a Panama Canal Pilot. While conning large vessels thru the locks of the Panama Canal, I must be on the bridge wing regardless of weather conditions. Tropical squalls and downpours are an everyday occurrence. I use this jacket as professional gear while climbing aboard using a pilot ladder. The fit does not restrict arm movement. It keeps you dry very well I like that it's lightweight and packs small. While not in use, it's neatly stowed very tight in a ziplock bag. maybe the heat inside the gear suitcase, tropical humidity, and temperature shifts degrade the glue of the seams after 2-3 years of use. The OR outlasted an Arc'teryx I had.

Zipper never worked right when purchased. Hole blew out in pocket during use, damaging phone. Have received nothing but run around for warranty replacement. Mos Def never buying again.
