Perfect Adventure Hoodie

For the past week I've worn this hoodie for running, biking, and backpacking and loved it for every activity. I love how compared to other sun hoodies I've worn, it's extremely thin and breathable while still offering UPF protection. I live in the high desert so having something thats protective while also keeping me cool is necessary for comfort outdoors. One of the features I love the most is the high neck so that I don't have to also wear a neck buff to get all the sun protection I want. I thought I wouldn't be a big fan of the thin thumb holders, (I always worry they're gonna rub my skin to much) but I wore them for 8+ miles hiking with trekking poles and didn't have any discomfort. I've only worn the hoodie for a week and washed it once so far, but the material seems strong and like it will hold up well. I'm excited to wear this hoodie on many more adventures! One thing to note is the hoodie is very true to size and not oversized at all. If you like to wear something a bit loose, you may want to size up.

Exceptional sun hoodie for high-output activities!

This sun hoodie has become my go-to choice for all my outdoor adventures – whether it's backpacking, climbing, or cycling. I especially like the Sprint Heather color for cycling, not only because it enhances visibility and safety but also because it adds a vibrant touch to my pictures, making me stand out against the background :) One of the things I appreciate the most about this hoodie is its exceptional sun protection. With the added SPF, it has saved me from serious sunburn during trips with intense sun exposure. While my partners ended up with sunburns, I remained protected throughout. I'm also delighted with how quickly the hoodie dries. During a recent sunset jog up the 4-mile trail in Yosemite to reach Glacier Point, I was drenched in sweat upon arrival. As the temperatures drop pretty drastically in the valley, I was concerned about getting cold during the descent. However, within approximately 20 minutes of taking pictures and admiring the view at the viewpoint, the shirt was completely dry. Besides its performance, the Sprint Heather color does have one minor drawback – it tends to attract dirt more easily than other colors. While regular machine washing doesn't always remove those stains entirely, a quick hand wash does the trick. I don't have that problem with the Serene Heather color. In conclusion, this sun hoodie has exceeded my expectations for high-output activities. Its excellent sun protection, quick-drying capability, and eye-catching colors make it an essential piece of gear. Just be mindful of the dirt factor if you opt for the brighter color. Nonetheless, I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a reliable and functional sun hoodie.

Super lightweight, protective sun hoodie!

I got the Taema hoodie in the color Atmos Heather in size medium. I have taken it on multiple backpacking trips and have worn it every day on each of those trips! I felt like I didn't need to use as much sunscreen because it provided good protection. However, the color did show dirt more quickly than I expected, so I might choose a different color next time. Aside from that, it was extremely comfortable, durable, lightweight, and quick drying.

Versatile Shirt

Overall, I really liked this shirt. I wore it to a music festival and it was great at keeping my skin protected from the blazing sun during the day, while being breathable and not too hot, and it was a nice layer to wear at night when it got cool. I also wore it on a day-hike in the sun and got it wet and it was very quick to dry. The reason for my 4-star review is that I prefer a looser-fit style hoodie and this was more of a slim fit, but that is a personal preference. It may just be my shape (hour-glass), but the fit was a little off - loose in the shoulders and too long sleeves, but snug at the hip. The color (Serene Heather) was really nice, and goes well with lots of different items in my wardrobe.

A must have for summer camping

I am in love with this top! It is a soft and very light material which is perfect for camping. It is perfect for summer to protect my skin from sun and bugs. Comfy thumb holes and breathable too. This is a must for summer because of the fabric, didn’t feel hot and heavy at all boat camping in 80 degrees. I really like the color, goes with everything and stayed cool. The hoodie was comfy, not too big or small and fit over a hat which is nice to help protect my head from sun. I will be using this for every camping and hiking trip!

This hoodie saved me in the alpine

So the past few summers have been quite hot, and on mountaineering trips you’re out in the alpine basically all day with little to no shade opportunity… and this hoodie has been a life (and skin) saver! After I bought my first one, and then realized on our trips how effectively it kept me cool and protected from the sun, I immediately bought another one. Those two were purchased last year and have been my go-to’s since. Note that I did try on this years version and I’m not sure if it’s my imagination but the material feels a bit stiffer and a tad tighter than last years. If there’s a redesign I would push for it to return to slightly more loose. Regardless this is an absolute staple.

Obsessed with this fit!

I am obsessed with the fit of this hoodie! It's flattering while providing practical coverage. The shoulders fit snugly without being too tight giving it a surprisingly structured fit for such a light piece. If you have broad shoulders, I would try it on before committing. I am particularly impressed with the top of the hoodie. It's long enough to form a kind of visor, which is perfect for sun coverage, without drooping all over my face. So far, it has been great for long runs in the sun, even when it's hot out. I haven't had a chance to use it multiple days in a row for a smell test, but I will definitely reach for this first the next time I go on an overnight trip.

Best sun-shirt ever

This has been my go to long sleeve sun shirt all spring, summer and into the fall. I will continue to wear it in the winter also. I love the UPF factor as it reduces my need to slather my arms and back of neck in sunscreen working outside most of the year (I’m lazy). It is airy and light with good length for coverage in the body and arms and the hood sits well over a hat, toque or just your head. Odour control is a meh, but I’m a naturally sweaty person so my activewear pieces tend to smell more than drier folks. I primarily wear this hiking and on the water in my kayak and SUP. I will probably get another one to rotate between.

Airy sun protection

This is a long-sleeve sun shirt that delivers on UV protection. For a long time I hated wearing anything long sleeve in the summer because it feels so icky with sweat, but the Taema is light and stays airy through activities. Note that it's a regular fit - which is good for room to move in hot weather - but there is very little stretch overall. A bit tight around the neck and cuffs especially once you get going/sweaty. As well, the Taema in white stained way more easily in comparison to other white Arc'teryx pieces and was harder to get the stains out. Not a dealbreaker by any means and I fully expected this getting a white colorway, just something to note.

A great top for hiking and biking

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. This top is so comfortable and soft! I've worn this hiking and biking - the hood is great for additional sun coverage. The fabric is light enough that I've worn this in 100+ degree weather while biking (in Arizona) for sun protection and don't get that much hotter than I would in a t-shirt or tank top. The design is great and has thumb loops internally at the ends of the sleeves so they're not visible if not being used. I got a medium because I wanted the body of the top to be a bit loose in case I wore another shirt underneath, but I normally wear a small. The sleeve and body length were perfect for me at 5'3. I would definitely get this top in another color!
