Purchased for 2 wk trip to Europe. Duffel worked well. Took the backpack straps out to eliminate weight and use the space. Seemed to hold up well but only one trip on it. Love that it sits on end wo falling over. I could lock 3 zippers but woyjd have been nice to lock the other one by handle. Color easy to find on conveyor belt. Wish they had a 25”.

Great size, odd design problem
The "kickstand" bar on the front side of the bottom of the bag (see in photo) causes the bag to tip backward when empty. I returned it worried than when I added a work bag to the top of this I would constantly be picking it up. I compared with another bag in the store and same problem, so it wasn't just the bag I purchased.

Lightweight and (not) durable.

First line of the description reads "Lightweight and durable. . . " Only the first part is true in my experience. These bags are light, look great, perform superbly and I was really happy with mine until it competely wore through the outer fabric over the internal wire frame. This was caused by rubbing against other objects in baggage handling and transit. This is a design flaw with a cheap, simple solution - just a plastic or rubber cap over the corner of the wire frame. Osprey, to their credit, honoured their "Almighty Guarantee" and sent me a replacement bag, but I've lost faith in it, sold it on unsused and bought a different bag.

Osprey Daylite 85 L Pack

After extensive research I thought this rolling pack would be the best for my needs. I was extremely disappointed because, while the material is sturdy, its maneuverability is terrible. The straps are extremely difficult to latch, making its use as a backpack more hassle than it’s worth. When rolling, it would twist, something I didn’t account for but due to it having only 2 in-line wheels. I’m giving it 2 stars instead of only 1 because it is lightweight and made of sturdy material. I’d like to return this pack so I hope REI will let me do so.

Lightweight solid bag

This bag doesn’t weigh much at all. Makes a difference for me when dealing with stairs. It does exactly what I bought it to do.

A complete lemon

I have lots of Osprey gear but this is a complete dud. Not enough carry handles. The top internal strap for securing contents is way too high meaning unless the case is full all your clothes drop to the bottom. Very annoying! The zip opens all sides apart from the top which means you can’t quickly add stuff to it without laying it flat on the ground. The material is not great and starts to look dirty very quickly and is almost impossible to clean. The base stand is a flimsy wire which got damaged at an airport on only my second use. This case is going in the bin which makes it a costly mistake on my part. That said, Osprey is a fantastic brand so I’m off to buy another one! My advice though is to give this one a miss, it’s a total lemon.

This duffle is a replacement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This duffle is a replacement for my aging LL Bean wheeled duffle. So high expections. And thus far it is a great replacement. It has already successfully travelled twice across the US. Already shared this bit with Sheri/Osperey (she sat next to me on last flight). And the bag roles easy, easy to grab from luggage carousels. Volume matches my LL Bean but lies fatter/wider making it easy to place in a car lying down or standing up (thanks to kick stand). And carries a week's worth of clothes and running gear.

Overall - not bad. Durability

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall - not bad. Durability seems good, although that gets determined more in the long term. Had to take a star off because of the placement of the handle for carrying the duffel. It should be on a side, not the top. Placing it on the top makes it incredibly awkward to carry when it needs to be lifted. The physics doesn't work out because the bag's center of weight is farther from the handle. Redesign it with the handle on the side and it'll be a near perfect piece of gear.

Outstanding Duffel 85

I bought two recently with an eye on a holiday in Oman. I used them on a test run to Malta last week. Have to say they are superb, rugged and well made they are able to carry plenty of kit for a couple of weeks of holiday. I particularly like that you can use them as a suitcase and then a back pack if necessary thanks to the built in straps. Very happy customer.

Grab and Go

I have just returned from a 3 week hiking and swimming holiday in Central Europe with plenty of travel by planes, trains, buses, ferries, boats and automobiles thrown in for good measure. The bag was stuffed to the gunnels carrying the basic essentials for my time away and for the different weather/activities/terrains etc. Very tough and durable (like me - ha!) - one thing I would say though - it could do with another grab-handle along the side for ease of hoiking it on/off buses, trains, ferries etc. I didn't actually use the rucksack straps - I think these would work better if the bag had less in it. I am an averagely sized and averagely fit woman in my sixties - so an extra grab handlefor extra ease of porterage on the go would work well for me. Apart fon that the wheeling mechanism worked smoothly- except once or twice when it was facing the wrong way in a lift and I had to execute a clumsy volte face to get myself and bag out the. right way around. We live and learn (mostly).
