I spent the entire summer working at a summer camp nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I needed a pair of shoes that would provide enough tread and support for running all over the mountain doing various activities ranging from mountaineering, high ropes, backpacking, etc. These were phenomenal, I had maybe one day of achy feet due to breaking them in and then everyday after that was amazing. These were by the far the comfiest shoe I have ever wore. They are water resistant to a degree, I stepped in a puddle and never noticed but in all day torrential downpour I definitely had wet feet. However after wearing them for 3 1/2 months straight, they definitely show wear and tear.
Just returned from an extensive trek on the Aztec trail up to Machu Picchu in Peru. These shoes performed magnificently on dry and wet rock in addition to dirt and gravel. Fit and comfort was excellent. I bought these specifically for this trip and was not the least bit disappointed. Also used on lava rock in the Galapagos Islands. Im getting a second pair as a spare backup in case they are discontinued!!
Like a previous reviewer stated, these don't breathe that well.. but that is what makes it my favorite PNW, wet weather shoe. Just wear lightweight wool socks and you won't even notice. Its nice not worrying about rain and puddles saturating my feet. My only wish is that these had a little more cushion in the heal. It's a solid feeling shoe. The lugs grip well. It is light, allowing me to move quickly. I've logged over 50 miles in these so far and they've held up great. If you're looking for a shoe that breathes well, I'd look elsewhere. This one will keep you dry, which is what I was looking for.
I had a trip to Hawaii planned and decided to buy some hiking shoes at the last minute (the day before leaving.) I read the reviews of these online and decided to stop at REI on the way home from work on the off-chance they fit. (I have narrow B-width feet.) I tried one on and it fit great, so I bought them. I hiked up Diamond Head and Haleakala with no problems, surprisingly. I also accidentally spilled gasoline on them while filling my rental car and the Gore-Tex did not allow the gas to soak through into my sock. I highly recommend these. They exceeded my expectations. I am even wearing them at work today.
The boots started breaking in the first month near the laces. It only got worse from there. I bought when there was a blue color and they are absolutely not washable, any dirt remains a stain. Plus after a couple of months began to tear near the seams and here are my shoes are no longer waterproof. Very disappointed
Hello! Thank you very much for your comment. A member of our team will contact you shortly to talk about your experience.
Purchased for walking varying trail conditions, ranging from asphalt thru muddy gravel and sharp rock. Needing only basic ankle support, agility, durability and reliable traction. First impressions are strong. Attractive tech-gear material styling showcases the various design features (lacing, Gore-Tex upper, cushioned lower). Sturdy, solid construction with weight, though not heavy. Feels balanced when worn and in-use. Profile and cushioning provide heel, instep and arch support, encouraging a forward facing stance. Very comfortable overall. Hiking will provide performance feedback.
this the first time I bought a Salomon hiking shoe it so far I'm pleased with the lightness and comfortability of this shoe wanted to use this for summer rock trails and every now and then this would be great for walking at work.Well recommended and will definitley purchase again in the future
Used less than 4 months on max 6 moderate hikes. They are comfortable but not durable at all! Already got a hole on the side and the shape of the shoes deteriorated.
I looking for a comfortable yet durable hiking shoe to wear in a variety of circumstances. I like a little more support and these seem to have a good balance of that and cushion. The gortex is a bonus and I’ve not found these shoes to be hot. The heel is lower which promotes a little more of an active stance which I like. These are quickly becoming my daily go to shoe. True to size with other athletic shoes.
I never got try them out on the trail. I ordered a half size up from my normal size, since they do not offer a wide size in these. The shoes felt good walking around the house, but my toes were cramped due to them being too narrow. My heels felt locked in with no slippage, but being too narrow was a deal breaker for me. I wish all shoe companies would start making wide sizes available in all shoes.
