I like the inner feeling of the jacket. It doesn't have a liner, but definitely doesn't feel all-plastic like other jackets do. It just feels smooth and non-sticky. The location of the front pockets is very good. Out of the way of packs' hip belts, but not too high and centered. It is just great and I enjoyed it. The only pocket I didn't like is the inner one. I can barely fit my phone in there. I use inner pockets solely to keep electronics warm, so with this size I cannot use it. It has very long sleeves. Usually my jackets fit me on a bit of a short side when it comes to sleeves. With this jacket I actually had the opposite problem, they're a bit too long. I took the jacket crag-climbing and thought that the sleeves could be an advantage in rainy climbs as it would still protect you, even when grabbing on higher hand holds. The hood has a smaller size than other jackets, but it was still big enough to fit my helmet (Mammut Wall Rider - Large). This worked really well and was very comfortable. The jacket is breathable, but I definitely not the most breathable one. I took it running a few times and I ended up soaked whereas with my usual running jacket breathes better. However I think that considering the amount of water protection it offers, then the breathability it has is good enough. I REALLY wish this jacket had some armpit zippers. I took it on a couple mountain scrambles and we had our fair share of snow and wind. It is very good at protecting both from wind and snow! However I still was working hard and wanted to ventilate. I believe zip vents would make jacket much more versatile. I like that it is hip length. Some other jackets are shorter and allow some drafts to get in. Noise wise, of course it is not a quiet jacket. It is waterproof and I don't think noise is going to go away anytime soon. With this in mind, it is the quietest rain shell I've had. At least from those that offer good protection from the elements. Fit-wise I think it fits just right, except for the sleeves.
This is my first time owning something from Arc'teryx and I’m very impressed! The blue color is so vibrant and appealing. The jacket is lightweight, while still blocking out the wind and majority of the rain. I wouldn’t say this will keep you too warm, definitely more of a spring/fall jacket that you can layer. My favorite part is the velcro on the wrists to make it more slim fitting as well as blocking out the wind and rain. I’m mainly using this as a rain coat and quick everyday things around town.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A bought this jacket after upgrading from another premier manufacturer. It has been my bad weather saviour time & time again. From a passing shower while out walking to keeping a 48 hour deluge at bay while camping, it's been there. Paired with a warm mid layer, this jacket is the benchmark for outdoor clothing
I had wanted a good shell jacket for a while. I narrowed it down to the Beta Jacket and Beta LT, but struggled to differentiate these. The Beta Jacket seemed to have better material breathability yet the LT had Pit Zips, and better Colours. I eventually went for the LT but found the hood massive even when cinched. I then went for the Beta Jacket, and I’m really pleased with it, great material and breathes well. It works good as an everyday jacket (plus has smaller hood) and for light hiking. I should have gone for it in the first place - I think the Beta jacket range needs clearer use descriptions - this would have helped me.
I've been wanting to upgrade to a 3L shell for some time based on breathability and rain protection and was excited to have a little extra Christmas money to put toward this. After doing pretty extensive research, I was impressed by this jacket's reviews and features at a solid price point for it's class. So far it's been breathable as advertised, but I haven't put it to many tests yet. The waterproofing is great. I look forward to using this as my go to rain shell and trading in a couple other pieces, one being gore-tex paclite rain shell. I've always admired Arc'teryx gear and I hope this lives up to the expectations!
I bought this a couple years ago during the rain season and I’ve never needed or even thought about buying another rain coat, I’ve used this skiing, hiking and general use during rain or wind and I haven’t had any problems with it whatsoever. i’m always dry with it and the jacket itself has no wear or tear at all and still feels great to wear. It’s very comfy by itself or with multiple layers and staying true to size I don’t feel squished at all when i start to put more layers on. If you’re on the fence about buying it, I say go for it and go true to size this is a lifetime jacket and you will not regret it
Usually i would not complain on arcteryx product because they are juste perfect. This time its different. Was the First time i bought a jacket in small with sleeve beeing so long. No joke at least 3inch longer than i should get! Also find the hood not well design and uncomfortable. at shoulder level Its too wide come on that would be good for medium what kind of people designed the fitment of this jacket! Material is very good quality, and will keep it anyway for hike just in case of a suddent rain.. but everytime im gonna wear it, gonna miss my 500 buck i spent on a quality product designed poorly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been looking for an ideal wet weather running jacket - and the Beta fits the bill perfectly. I've found the Norvan to be fine for showers, but not stand up to anything more UL coastal heavy rain. The combination of added layers & a little more weight (although not too much) makes this a great protective layer for when the winds & rain get up.
Me and my wife both bought this jacket in Switzerland The jacket is super light weight very good in the rain and wind I wouldn't recommend this Jacket for any alpine walking or where trees or bushes may be it will just rip No strength in the fabric The jackets are not marked on the label to say what they are ???
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wore this jacket in Iceland during a week of cold, heavy wind, and total down pour most the time while hiking and touring. I was dry and warm the entire trip, while many others without an Arc'teryx shell were not so lucky. Made my trip great. I even stayed dry while standing in a waterfall.
