Not able to use on van door - straps grow when wet

I purchased for rear door of my camper van for which the long straps are designed. Issue is that the straps stretch in wet or even humid weather becoming detached at bottom; the hooks then clang against the rear door. I've attached and re-attached many times to analyze what was going on. First I thought heat made the bag stretch but discovered it was the humidity that made the straps stretch. I exposed bag to the elements for two months hanging a on my camper hoping straps would age to perfection. I got tired of having to re-fasten the straps on every leg of a trip so I no longer use.

It is what it is

Exactly what it was described as and as I thought. Put it on spare tire on jeep and fit perfect. Doesn't flap around while driving, even on highway as long as you adjust strap. Used to store kindling I gathered up to bring back to campsite. Threw bags of ice into it to transport so I didn't get inside of vehicle wet. It is rugged, I coated it with some waterproofing spray, but I am not terribly worried about it getting wet. There is drainage hole in bottom -good! Put trash bag inside as liner and if I want to throw beer bottles from around campsite. I was going to take it off after trip but I just left it on and haven't had a problem. Great deal at discontinued price.

OK if it stays dry

I attached it to the rear door on my Ford Transit. Once I figured out where I could hook it (top was easy, bottom had to use a trim piece and hope it held, middle couldn't use the hooks because of the rubber gasket and had to latch all the way around the door on the inside) I did a 3500 mile road trip with it. The biggest complaint I have is the straps stretch quite a bit when the get wet. When we drove through a rainstorm, the straps would get quite loose, and start smacking against the door. I knew with the middle strap buckled around the door it couldn't actually fall off, but it was annoying. So I would tighten them up, eventually they dried, and then they were bowstring tight. Remember I said the only place to hook the bottom was on a trim piece? I was very nervous that would rip off. But, it held for this trip. I haven't had a chance to take a close look for scratches in the paint yet, but nothing was obvious. The bag itself was very useful, I really appreciated not having to put wet campground trash or dog waste bags in the van.

Extra Outside Storage for RVers

I got the Kelty Trash Pak to add extra outside storage for our Winnebago Navion RV. With the existing mounting hardwear it fits perfectly on our rear ladder. I plan to use it to store the RV sewer hose which fits in the bag with plenty of room to spare. The bag construction is pretty robust and hoping it holds up on our current cross country road trip.

Well-made and BIG enough for its purpose

I bought this bag for transporting a collapsible porta potty, biodegradable bags & gel packs, and maybe trash while camping in a tear drop. Plenty of room, cleanable & it can attach to the spare tire.

Scratched my paint

This bag had me really hyped up. The build quality is great, and it was easy to adjust. The clips also were great for a truck tailgate, however after a dusty offroading adventure, this bag left scuff marks on my tailgate paint. I was able to get a few out by hand but it will likely require a paint correction from a professional to get everything off. This would be a great option if you either don't care enough about your paint, plan never to remove it from your rig, or will be mounting it to a spare tire.

Great bag compared to other options

Obviously if you strap it to your vehicle it’s going to rub/scratch. It’s meant to go on a spare tire…… UV restant fabric was a major selling point for me. Trasharoo only lasted 2 summers
