Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great fit, really comfy for hiking
I wore this jacket over my REI Co-op Swiftland Half-Zip Running Pullover for a hilly hike in Portland on a very humid day. The jacket breathed very well, and a few light drops of rain kept me dry the entire 3 hours. Love the color and the sleeve length is just right for my very long arms. I am 5'8" and about 165 lbs. XL was perfect size for both the Flash Jacket and the Swiftland Half-Zip Running Pullover in same color. Some folks complained the pockets did not have zippers but really, there are inside pockets if you want to store your gloves. Jacket did not really need zippers in pockets
breathable and packs small
I love this shell! It’s breathable and small to pack and it adds just enough when I need it. I wore it to the Galveston, TX island the first weekend in April and despite it being temps of 70+ degrees the wind coming off the ocean just gave it enough of a chill that I needed something light and this was just right! It doesn’t feel sticky in humid weather either. I’ve also thrown it on over a fleece in 40 degree to act as a wind proof layer and it was just right. It has only a small bit of water resistance, a fine mist is ok. Any heavier moisture and it wouldn’t stand up. The lilac color is lovely and I received several compliments on it.
powerful jacket that packs a punch
LOVE LOVE LOVE this coat! Its lightweight, incredibly packable, keeps the wind off and protects from gentle rain. I purchased this instead of the Patagonia version because REI version had pockets and the material felt softer. The jacket is tiny, it packs into a pocket about the size of a large pack of gum, so I can take it anywhere. I attached a carabiner to the pocket loop which allows me to snap the jacket to my shorts when I'm walking around, providing a quick extra layer when hiking or just walking around the neighborhood. The material is soft and when zipped, provides a surprising amount of warmth - at least against a light breeze.
Made for trail running
I live in Kingman, AZ and in the winter/spring it's windy here so the time, with 30-40 mph winds taking place at least once a week. I was using a hardshell rain jacket but I wanted something more breathable as it's been warming up. I really debated between this and the Houdini and I'm not disappointed I went with this. The fit is classic REI fit, true to size without the squeeze. I got a M and could layer a thin puffy jacket or vest under when it's really cold or just a t shirt on warmer days without it being too big. Pros -Lightweight, packable -Fit both length and width -Color (I'm forever afraid of being lost and this yellow is bright but not offensive) -Zipper is smooth against the skin when all the way up and doesn't snag -Performance - I've worn this every hike or run since I've bought it and it's the perfect breathable yet wind resistant layer for active sports. I don't think I would have used this when I lived in the Midwest but it's perfect for the Southwest. Things I Would Change - I'll never understand why this and the Houdini don't have at least one traditional zippered pocket. The chest pocket doesn't fit anything and the hand pockets are just dying to have an invisible zipper sewn on. It would add almost no weight and a ton of functionality. - I'd also like to see a tiny tab to roll up the hood. When it's really windy and I don't have my hood up it's pretty distracting when it's getting blown all around. - Cost? $100 seems steep when it's only a few ounces but the performance did far has really made it worth it. It's the layer you didn't know you were missing but needed. Love it.
A great jacket if you manage your expectations
Full disclosure - I messed up by buying this jacket. I needed a new rain jacket and in my rush to buy one while the sale was still going on, I totally missed that this isn't a rain jacket. I was initally going to return it, however it's turned out to be a pretty useful thing to have. It's decent in a very light drizzle (anything beyond that expect to get wet) and it's also great during those times when it's too warm for a sweater but a little too chilly for just a t shirt, good as a light windbreaker while still being breathable, and a good layer for bugs. Packs down super small, weighs next to nothing. Just don't expect this to offer much protection from precipitation and don't expect it to keep you toasty in a freezing wind. I sized up so I could layer over a sweater and it's nice and roomy without swallowing me.
Super lightweight and packable
I got this in the purple. Very nice color. I picked this over some other packable windbreakers by other brands because it has pockets. I think wearing a jacket without hand pockets is awkward. Definitely very light and very packable but not sure if it’s THAT wind proof. I can feel the wind through the jacket when there are big gusts. Jacket is very breathable though which was a big problem I have had with other windbreakers where condensation and moisture would form on the inside layer of the jacket if doing low to medium output activity. Has been good to wear for Atlanta spring weather. Only protects against very light precip. I also had to size up because of the fit on my chest.
Some great things, some design missteps
The weight, color, and packability of this jacket are great. However, REI missed the mark on a couple of features. First, the pockets should have zipper closures. Second, either the hood should be removable, or there should be some way to secure the hood in a rolled-up position. I’m likely going to sew a small button on the seam allowance near the label to cinch down the hood using the drawstring, and I may sew snaps or buttons on the pocket openings. I’d simply return it, but this jacket is the closest I could find to replace a Columbia hoodless nylon windbreaker I’ve had for years that is no longer in production. In addition, the sizing is a little small, I needed to go one size up from my usual size to have it fit comfortably.
Perfect for town and trail
I have two Patagonia Houdinis which I love and use year round, but saw this addition to REI's lineup and wanted to try it! I like the hand pockets and love the color. This jacket is so versatile. Will again more in other colors. Don't rely on the lower rankings that discount it for not being rain jacket, that's not what it is.
Great lightweight jacket
Great lightweight jacket for any day. It's breathable and very comfortable. It provides more warmth than expected. It is water resistant for mist or light rain but will not protect you in a downpour. The color is a lovely light lavender. It packs into a pocket relatively easily but does wrinkle. However, those wrinkles do not seem to last long and the jacket looks great again. Overall, I love this jacket!
Packable, Super Lightweight, Wrinkles
I really like the jacket... it's very lightweight and very compactable. I got it in the orangy color so I could also wear it while hiking during hunting season. My only complaint, and I didn't deduct stars for this, is that when it's compacted down, it does get very wrinkled. I like it too much to return it for that reason.
