The "Potty Shack"

This is such a perfect home for our portable camping toilet, we dubbed it the "Potty Shack." It is roomy, well made, and comes with a floor and rain fly. For campsites without amenities, it can double as a shower and changing room. I highly recommend it for making your camping experience more comfortable.

Very poor quality

This is very difficult to assemble by yourself. I put this together in the front yard so I would be familiar with it before summer camp. It stood fine but when I went to put the rain fly on the plastic piece that holds the polls broke. Very poor quality product.

Product ruined!

I bought this shelter in April for use as a changing room. I just opened it and it has holes in the fabric walls around the perimeter. Likely caused as a result of how the poles were packaged from the factory.

Product not as portrayed in image.

Discrepancy with color from description and product image. There are two color choices. If you choose the color in the product image you will receive the other model. Go by color description, Not by the image. The frame is too big for the tent fabric and is too tight to assemble even if it does fit eventually. I ended up cutting off an inch each from the INNER end of the top ridge poles. Not the very end as there are locking springs at that location. Used tubing cutters and a Dremel. Perfect now. If you are not handy with tools, never mind. After the modifications, I like the product well enough to keep it.

Do not purchase!

The setup and design seemed fine until there was randomly an audible snap 15 min after setting up for the firest time (tent not in use). This was a material failure at a critical point - the plastic piece that joins all four poles at the top. The tent cannot function without this piece. The plastic is cheap and can't handle the strain the tent puts on it.

It's a good product

The shelter is relatively easy to set up, roomy, private and well ventilated. Fortunately we set it up at home as there were a couple of issues. First, the top pole segment must be rotated/aligned with slots in the plastic crosspiece at the top of the frame. Second, the clip at the peak of the shelter is supposed to go through a hole in the previously mentioned crosspiece. The hole in the crosspiece is too small. Fortunately, I was able to drill the hole to fit as I erected the shelter at home, first. Finally, for some reason, Kelty probably saved a dollar by including tie straps while rolling up the shelter to secure it to fit in the stuff bag. Velcro straps would have made that process much easier.

Solo Setup Requires Patience!

Just received this and immediately set it up in my living room to make sure I could easily do it by myself, and to ensure there’s no damage. Everything was great until I had to clip the top clips to the poles - specifically the last one. It took FOREVER for me to finally do it, I was worried something would break. I’m thinking it’s so taught because it’s brand new, so I’m leaving it set up for a few days, and hope it stretches it a bit so it’s easier next time. I still like it so much more than my previous privacy/potty/shower shelter so I’ll probably keep it but it’s not easy to set up alone.

Why doesn’t it zip all the way?

I know it is hard to describe everything about a product, but they could have mentioned that the door does not zip at the bottom. Why not just stitch a tiny vacancy sign about 2” inches up from the ground to help the snakes make a quicker decisions. I am 5’4” and could not put it together myself. It’s very heavy, I suppose if you were going to use it only as a shower in the daytime (when it is easy to check for critters) it would be okay, but as a privy at night…no way. Oh, add the mesh at the bottom has really big openings, so even though the bugs can’t get in the vents near the top, a quick trip to the bottom gets them in if they don’t mind snakes. Not for me, I am returning it.

Fantastic overall shower structure while camping!

This shower is fantastic. It uses tension from the poles, which are very sturdy, to provide a very solid overall structure. We were able to hang 4-liter water bottles from the straps no problem. There are thoughtful compartments all the way around, and a nice clip internally to hang a towel. I especially like how they designed the floor, with two straps that easily unlatch to clean off the water and dirt that may have accumulated. Finally, even though there are openings at the bottom it stayed relatively bug-free inside, which was a huge plus for the kids!

Why are people saying it's hard to put together???

The reviews had me cringing, but I needed a shower tent at the last second before a trip and this was the only one I could pick up same-day, so I took the gamble... and won! I really don't understand the reviews that say it's hard to put together?? It was not rocket science... I think it's intuitive enough to put together without directions, myself. But the directions are clear and easy to follow. I am a lady camper without great upper body strength, but assembly wasn't physically difficult either. It is hard for me to fathom why all these other reviewers were having such problems. Great little tent that is very sturdy and served all of our camp shower needs. There are convenient pockets inside to keep your soap and shampoo off the ground, it held a 2.5 gallon shower bag with ease, stayed up when the wind kicked up overnight, and everything fit comfortably back in the bag when it was time to pack up. Could not ask for more! This tent is a serious upgrade to our camping experience, and provided a better shower experience than some national park showers I've used.
