Good on a budget, only in dry weather

The only reason I am leaving 2 stars is because it was easy to set up, and decent for the price, but only if used in dry/v low humidity weather. Here are the issues I had with it: 1. Absolutely no ventilation - thankfully it wasn’t raining the entire time I was camping, so I was able to take the rain fly off periodically. However when it was on, the tent was full of condensation. 2. Snagging zippers - honestly not the worst feature. annoying but not terrible. 3. Terrible rain fly design - when the tent moves at all, the rain that has collected in the rain fly lip pours over/onto you 4. Tent is larger than the footprint - which means that when both are staked into the ground, the footprint is taught while the tent slides around. Makes it difficult to zip/unzip the tent. Honestly save your money and get something better. Look for good ventilation in the rain fly.

Good tent for moderate use

I've had this tent for almost two years now, and I'm satisfied with it. It is fairly easy for one person to set it up (very easy for two people). Comfortably sleeps two adults with room for our dog. The rain fly is very effective - we experienced torrential rains during a thunderstorm on a camping trip but the inside of the tent stayed bone dry. Others have complained about the door zipper catching on the fabric, which hasn't been a big issue for us, but I will say the zipper is occasionally difficult to use because the fabric around the door is very taut.

First use failure

We took this tent to camp for the weekend. On the second day of being set up, the fiberglass tent pole snapped at the metal coupling and stabbed through the rain fly. Luckily the rain fly held it all together so we could finish our trip. We were happy with the size and features of this tent, but a pole failure on the first use is tragic. Also the zipper flap almost always gets stuck in the zipper. Impossible to open or close tent door with one hand. Will be returning for refund.

One person set up

Easy set up. Wish there was a back window for ventilation. Zipper catches too easily on front door access 😞!

Weak and annoying

We purchased this from the REI Store and we were initially very impressed with the color scheme and overall design. The tent features an almost entirely open mesh design with an optional rain fly for added protection and privacy. On our 3rd or 4th camping trip however, some heavy winds snapped one of the tent poles somehow and then the sharp fiberglass cut through the rain fly. The zipper is HORRENDOUS to use because of the water flap that is right over it, the zipper is constantly jammed up. REI agreed to take the tent back and give us a refund. I'll be looking for a different tent.

Not the Old Kelty

I grew up with a big family 8-10 person kelty tent in the 2000’s and it was awesome. It still is, really, just too big for what I do/where I go. I thought to buy a kelty tent as I trusted the brand. Big mistake. 3 trips in - 6 nights. The floor has 4 rips in it, one was my fault, the other 3 are just a sign of how weak the material is. As someone else mentioned the zipper with the flap is perhaps the worst design in camping. The three stars I gave it are for the color scheme, overall design, and ease of setup. The clip-in rain fly is great and the pole sleeves on the tent are a good idea. Maybe just a more durable floor and a non-insane zipper and this thing would be way better.

Not exactly ideal

This is a 4-person tent in name only, or for 4, very small people, or people who can float over their tent mates so they don't have to step on them while entering and exiting. With this tent, you can either have great ventilation, or great privacy, but not both. If you plan on camping at a campground in the middle of summer, this becomes a problem. If you are out in the wilderness, it is probably just fine. Aside from these two concerns, this tent is just fine. I used it alone in the middle of a busy campground, so I had enough room but had to compromise ventilation for privacy and v.v. It is very easy to put up and take down and was water-proof.

Easy setup, rained all night, didn't get wet

I was looking for an inexpensive tent. This was the least expensive 4 person tent. This isn't a $400 tent, but given some of the reviews I was very pleasantly surprised. We were able to set it up completely without instructions, and then it rained all night on us and we didn't get wet. For the price, and car camping, it was great. One tip: when you set it up make sure the rain fly isn't touching the interior shell. This is probably obvious to experienced tenters but I hadn't used one like this before with a ventilated interior. Nice ventilation due to the open interior shell design so with two people the interior didn't get steamy even with high humidity. Taped seams, seemed pretty nice to me. Looks good. Didn't experience any downsides.

Cute, but not great design

Not what I needed, and a bit frustrating to boot. The door does not have a fully mesh layer, in which it can be used like a window, which is what I'm looking for. Could just be the style nowadays, but I don't like how the only window/ventilation was at the top of the door. The zipper snags constantly, and was really annoying to use. Seems to be an error with the design, as there's a flap of fabric kind of like a zipper guard, but the zipper just snags it the whole time. If you have your hands full (or a flashlight in one hand), it's impossible to unzip the door, because you need two hands free to open it: one to hold back the zipper guard so it doesn't snag, and one to zip. It was a cute tent though! Just don't think the design was well thought-out or tested on humans
