Good gravel tire for dry and smooth roads

Tires were a nice tight fit on my rims, then I was able to seat the beads (to run them tubeless) with a floor pump. With a couple ounces of sealant in each tire, they hold air very well. Actual width on my 25mm internal diameter rims is just a hair over 40mm for each tire; so, if you have recent gravel wheels with similar rim widths, these tires will be true-to-size. At 408 grams each (actual weight on my scale), they are light for true 40mm tires. Tires have punctured a few times over the first 500 miles, but the sealant has taken care of those incidents. Ride is a little harsher than I expected, given that the tires have no puncture protection layer. The tread is suitable for dry surfaces and moderate gravel, but obviously does not offer enough traction for muddy routes and such. The positive side of this trade-off is that they roll nicely, especially on pavement sections -- there is a little telltale humming sound at speed, but the tires feel lively and accelerate quickly. At 408 grams each (actual weight on my scale), they are light for true 40mm tires. All in all, these perform exactly as I expected. Am deducting one star because the ride quality should be smoother, given the tire width and lack of puncture protection.

Bonded Seam Failed Immedately

I bought a set of these tires to replace my previous, more expensive Cadex. Had them shipped to me and mounted by the pros at my LBS (my nearest REI is not my bike shop, REI is too far away). The bonded seam between the brown sidewall and black tread failed on the first ride. While these were recommended by a friend who is a very experienced off-road gravel rider, I am very unhappy with the result and extra expense this will cost me for labor and sealant and time off my bike. The LBS said that WTB has a reputation within the industry of not having a consistent tire manufacturer and thus their products are hit and miss. As a co-op member, I’ll probably be trying to get product this refunded by REI.

Good tire but listing is wrong about SG2

Everything about this is a fine tire. But the REI listing is incorrect in saying the TPI 60 version has SG2 puncture protection. According to WTB, that layer only comes on the 120 TPI Vulpine version.
