Would love these if only . . .
I love the concept of these sandals and wish they were shaped for my foot. They are wide enough, a miracle, but when the widest part of my foot is in the correct placement, my toes are off the front and my heal is close to an inch from the back. They are light as a feather and the straps are very versatile. I would love these if Xero would only make the footprint to match mine :)
Using the adjustments is key
I had similar issues at first to the people above (my heel hitting the rim on the back, or my foot being too far forward/backward. BUT, the sandals are really adjustable—I found that shortening the back strap moved my foot further from the rim on the back (though they could also just remove that rim). I let out the front strap a bit to compensate. They are DEFINITELY minimal. I'd been wearing Xero HFS shoes but didn't have any sandals, and bought these and the trail sandals at the same time. When I first put these on, I thought "no way, these don't have enough between me and the ground." But after wearing the trail sandals for a couple of days (which are also really thin but have a bit more padding), when I came back to these I really liked them. So it might take a little time or progression if you're not used to barefoot walking...but I need to strengthen my feet for both my running and my general balance/pain and these do that marvelously. For me the straps are a really nice, soft material and just the right width to be both comfortable yet elegant enough when I suddenly need to be dressy.
I wanted to love these...
These are lightweight and after a one-mile walk around the neighborhood, I could tell they were forming to my feet already, but also the bottoms of my heels had blisters on both feet because of the groove near the heel cap... Ordered a pair of the trail sandals instead which don't seem to have that same design!
I love my Xeros
This was my first pair of Minimalist shoes and I'm so happy I made such a great choice. They are surprisingly durable. It takes some time to adjust to a barefoot shoe. I tried to start wearing them full-time right away, but I did develop blisters. I started wearing them for shorter times and after able two weeks I was able to wear them as long as I want. I take walks in them almost daily and couldn't be more satisfied. Sirens some time adjusting the straps, it's worth it. The company has a tutorial for adjusting them as well as how to remove them easily.
Perfect Camp Sandal
This is my second pair of these and I can’t say enough great things about them. UL minimal design for backpacking. Slim and flexible allows for easy packing. Quick to throw on for water crossings. Excellent grip. Feels great on your feet after long hike when you need to get out of your boots. Runs true to size.
moves with my foot better than Y-straps i've tried
The strap goes over the side of the big toe, not the widest part of the foot. If you crank down the heel enough to force the ball of your foot under the strap yeah it's not going to work, because it's not supposed to fit that way. This helps the front of the shoe articulate with your foot during your step and not continue to point down when your toes point up, which is the tripping hazard that has bothered me about minimal shoes since I started trying to find some. Even so, I guess I have low volume ankles because I still needed to significantly reduce the heel. This is a very flexible shoe that I do think lives up to the idea of "my feet but tougher". I took them on an easy trail for the first time and i certainly felt a lot more of the ground. I think these could be a good tool to toughen up my feet. Minimal shoes take some habituating to that I haven't really done. This isn't my first attempt and it's going a lot better than the other Y-straps I tried, because the toe strap keeps the front sole from tripping me. I found the brand's printout size guides accurate.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these babies!
These sandals are exactly what I was hoping. Minimal but fit well and I forget I even have them on. Could not ask for more in a zero minimalist sandal. I prefer the strap across the toe rather than through the toes and this one delivers. Hand tightens at each juncture with the sole.
Not enough meat on the bones of my feet
Just what I was looking for, a great sandal but not made for a super low volume foot like mine. Sad to have to return it.
Fantastic little sandal.
Very, very comfortable shoe! I prefer going barefoot and this is the next best thing!
