I have fallen love with my prAna Halle Pant II. First off, these are a 4 Regular with a 32' inseam in the color coal. When I first put them on, I thought they were so comfortable I could sleep in them in the winter. They are very roomy which is how I like my hiking and biking pants. The pants have a zipper, buttons and pant strings, but I can actually slide them down if needed. Second, I prefer looser pants and shorts in the hot temperatures in Florida. I find it easier to hike and bike when the pants have room for my legs to bend and squat. If you prefer your pants tighter, I would go down a size because they do run slightly larger. Next, the Halle Pant II comes with the perfect pockets ! They have 2 front and back large pockets, the rear pockets have buttoned flaps, and then an additional side zippered pocket on the front right side. I was able to fit my Samsung phone, my small wallet, and my keys in the front three pockets for hiking. The pants come with two snaps on the lower sides so I was able to roll them up to just below my knees for my bike rides. The comfort and durability of the material is superior! The second or third time I wore them, I got caught in a horrible rainstorm and I was 25 miles away from home on a 50 mile bike ride. The pants deflected the water and kept me from feeling drenched. I posted pictures below on my return from that wet ride. The sun came back out during the final miles and the pants were almost dry by the time I got home. These pants are amazing ! I also love the fit and style of the Halle Pant II. I feel comfortable running to the store or meeting friends for coffee in them because they look so stylish - the cut and details are very flattering. I highly recommend the Halle Pant II for hikers, bikers and women who love to run errands in super cozy pants.
I love these pants! The material is durable, has a good weight, and is really comfortable. I was immediately impressed by the fit and fabric. They were immediately comfortable and are figure flattering. The boot cut is perfect for fitting over my hiking boots. Having both belt loops and a drawstring seemed odd at first, but once I put on my backpack with a waist strap, I was happy that I didn’t need a belt to hold them snuggly up. When wearing them off trail- to dinner in town, they look equally great, because the belt loops allowed me to dress them up a bit. I love that they are long enough for me 5’9”. I weight 137 lbs and a size 8 is perfect. They skim my body and don’t bind anywhere. The front thighs pocket is great for keys, ID, and chapstick. I have worn these pants everywhere. They are stylish enough to wear around town or even out to dinner, but they are really well made for the trail. The knees are articulated. The fabric has enough give, but does not stretch out over the day. The ability to roll up and snap the legs securely was really good when the weather warms up mid day. I can’t wait to get another pair.
I love the shape and the fit. Unfortunately, the fabric developed visible wear (uneven, nobbly, thinner structure) between the thighs and on top of the thighs... within two months of normal use. I didn't do any serious outdoor activities, just day-to-day wear. Pity.
After about 2 months of wearing, these pants are already stating to fall apart. The fabric is cheaper and the elastic is coming out of the fabric at the crotch, butt, and front thighs. Now, after 6 months, the problem is even worse. Additionally, the ‘tall’ pants are shorter than they used to be. I am 6’0” and had to take out the seam in these pants so they fit my legs. I bought these pants for long-term traveling and have been entirely disappointed. The quality of Prana has taken a huge hit and I will not be purchasing from them again.
My beloved Columbia pants have been discontinued so I've now gone through half a dozen brands looking for a replacement. At 5'10 with substantial quads/booty and a much smaller waist, there are very few pants that fit. These fit pretty well, some waist gapping but I'll live. But goddess please, can we ever have proper pockets? The back pockets are flap style so you can't slide your phone in and the hip pockets are also not deep enough for an iPhone 13 Pro Max. There is a side leg pocket on the right but it has a vertical zipper which almost takes two hands to open and also, guess what? A shallow pocket.
I have a pair of the old Halle pant and I love them, I will be able to wear casual pants when I go back to work so I purchased two pairs (of four) I need not knowing what Halle II new fit meant. They are simply awful. The waist is too high and the pants flare just below the waist. Since I have normal hips and thighs, there is an excess of fabric there. They also bunch up at the back perhaps due to the extra piece of material at the crotch. The new material is cheap looking and flimsy despite the $95.00 cost. They are simply sloppy looking compared to the old Halle pant. I will not be buying the two additional pairs I planned to buy. I plan to take these two back.
I received these pants right before a hiking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park. I’ll start with the cons. There are none. I couldn’t find anything that I disliked about these pants. There are lots of pros though. The fit is great. I think you could easily wear these for casual events. The material is very comfortable. I like the inside string. With using that, I didn’t have to bother with a belt. The pockets are great. The front pockets are big enough to hold my iPhone. I like that there are zippered and buttoned pockets as well. I would highly recommend these pants. I look forward to using them on lot and lots of hikes.
I bought two pairs of these pants for a trip to the Galapagos. Last month we went to Germany. I intended to wear these pants for the plane flights, but discovered when we arrived that I had forgotten to pack any other pants! So I wore them for 11 days straight (fortunately we were visiting family and I could wash them a couple of times). I admit that by the time I got home, I was sick of them, but I realized that they were possibly the most comfortable, useful pants I've ever owned. They never stretched out, never looked dirty, and always looked like I had just washed them. Highly recommend!
The Halle I pants are a huge favorite of mine. After six months of use I'm disappointed to say the Halle IIs are just okay. They're not terrible but I vastly prefer the original. Mostly it's about the fabric durability for me. The Halle I is a thicker fabric and it's pretty darn indestructible. After years of use, my Halle Is have very little visible wear. It's kind of amazing. For context, I use these pants for hiking and other similar outdoor activities, and for indoor rock climbing/bouldering. This means the fabric is subjected to a lot of abrasion, especially on the rock wall. Within a month or two, my Halle II pants started to show visible pilling from abrasion. At first I loved the newer 2.0 fabric because it has a slight sheen to it and the pants look a little classier. I would wear them out as regular pants sometimes. The new fabric also packs a lot smaller so it's fantastic for travel. The boot cut is cute too. These are really great all-purpose travel and outdoor pants. They also have a little more stretch than the Halle Is, which is nice for climbing. That's the good part, and overall those positives still hold true. However, the pilling makes the pants a less attractive choice for general travel. They just look a little more worn and less classy. I'm still perfectly able to wear them to the climbing gym, for hikes, etc. It's just disappointing considering they are marketed as an abrasion-resistant pant. The function is not compromised at all...yet. I do worry that the pilling and signs of wear indicate reduced durability over the Halle I. Only time will tell. However, at this price point I was really hoping for the same longevity I've come to expect from the Halle I specifically and prAna in general. One additional note on the fit: these are more of a mid rise, whereas the Halle I was low rise. I didn't factor this into my star rating because I know it's a personal taste thing, but I find the fit much less comfortable and flattering. The lower rise was super cute and comfy. If you loved the Halle I fit as much as I do, the Halle I is in no way the same pair of pants. I'm bummed, but my next purchase is going to have to be something different.
I have the previous version of these pants, which had tiny front pockets. Fortunately, they finally realized that women do in fact like functional pockets. These are much improved! My whole hand can fit in the front pockets!! They are just enough stretchy, they are super duper comfy, I LOVE the fit, and I want these pants in every color. My only complaint is really just my own leg length - the regular length is slightly too short, and the tall length is a bit too long. This is not enough to deter me from wearing them. If you like snug fit pants, these are not for you. They are definitely a relaxed feel. If you, like me, have large thighs and a significant trunk, these are the pants for you.
