Not for smaller torsos
I tried the Women’s Lobo 9 a few times, and, unfortunately, it did not work out for me due to my x-small torso. For reference I have a petite frame, torso length 15” and at 5’3”. I tried this pack while hiking, biking, and just walking around an outdoor day’s event. During all these times it sat low, and past my lower back. I initially thought it wouldn’t be a big deal since it was not too much of the pack that sat low, however, with a few hours into wearing it did become uncomfortable. The shoulder straps did not shorten enough for me and made due with its shortest; this was not enough as it was too loose, and just not as form fitting as I needed it (preference) for an active use. Also, I did not feel the benefits of its air support back panel nor its heat distribution; granted it was during very hot summer days. The ventilated harness straps were light and good, as well as its removable hip belt. I appreciated its intentional compartments; it had all the small pockets in the right places to fit a couple, flat snacks. The reservoir takes some maneuvering to take out and fill as I couldn’t successfully fill it while inside the pack; not a deal breaker. The magnetic tube trap is a great convenience. All in all this pack is not created for petite body size, and/or smaller torsos, perhaps it may be best to have sizing options.
Such a Disappointment
This is my 5th hydration pack, and the most disappointing. I waited a year before weighing in on it. The bladder has sufficient volume for my purposes, but the pack is so tight I can't expand it to fill the bladder. And if I do get it half filled, there is only room to shove with force a scarf and a cheap leash for emergencies. I actually find the magnet works well, and it is quick to release. The hip strap is useless because the pack is so stiff, stiff stiff. I had to save to buy a new pack, so this is so disappointing. I am going to contact REI to see if I can exchange it. So sad...
great storage but leaky
I got this a year ago, great pack! Fits my beacon, probe, shovel, skins, 2L of water and snacks and is pretty sleek and breathable! I use it hiking and ski touring ! But the seal that holds the quick release nozzle into the reservoir slowly leaks and gets my butt wet sometimes. Up until now I’ve managed it by putting a gallon ziplock bag around it. But I’m getting sick of dealing with the double bag system and will probably return the bag or try to get a replacement part on warranty from camelbak. I have 2 other friends with the same model who also love theirs and have no leaks. Older generations of this model vary quite a bit in terms of design and storage.
Comfortable, durable little pack!
After receiving this pack from REI’s Product Advisor team, I tested this pack on a variety of bike rides (a quick 4 mile ride in the city and a longer 25 mile ride on a bike path) and hikes (an easy 3 mile hike and a more strenuous 14 mile hike). Overall, this pack performed incredibly well, so well, in fact, that it’ll likely replace my current favored day pack. It’s light, it fits well, and it stays in place without much need for readjustments. The water bladder seems to be well made and didn’t leak, though the magnet meant to secure the hose didn’t quite keep it in place. This became frustrating on bike rides, but didn’t seem to matter as much on hikes. In addition to the magnet, the only downside I noticed was the size. You should definitely note that this bag is small- so if you’re looking for something to hold much more than some basic essentials, a compact windbreaker or raincoat, and a snack, this isn’t the bag for you. If that doesn’t bother you, or you’re able to pack light, this pack is an awesome choice. For context, after filling the water bladder, here’s what I was able to fit on a recent 14 mike hike: rain coat, pb&j, small portable charger, bear spray, 3oz sunscreen, matches, SOL emergency blanket, headlamp, map Things were very tightly packed, but I was honestly impressed by how much this little pack was able to carry and how well it carried the weight (even without padded straps, I didn’t feel the weight until the very end of the hike). Tl;dr: This is a comfortable and durable little pack, that won’t leak and will stay secure as you move. 4.5/5 stars!
Good for cycling. Hard to remove the bladder
Compared to other CamelBak hydration packs previously used, this pack was not as easy to remove the bladder for cleaning out but it's not a deal breaker. I managed to fill the bladder just fine with a kitchen faucet pull-down hose before leaving the house. The bladder seals up very well, no leaks. Be sure to look at this product's torso sizing for the best fit. I have a shorter torso (16 in.) and the pack is longer than preferred but still fits. The waist belt does keep the pack from shifting, no shifting after 5 bike rides. I have to remove the helmet from the pack to access the two outer pockets to for my cash after lunch, or an extra layer of clothing. This pack has sufficient space for essentials, but a very tight fit for anything more than that if you fill the bladder all the way. By the time I needed to access things in my pack, the bladder had emptied enough to where it was easier to get to things in the pack.
Returned this pack
The zippers were really hard to use and I was fearful that they would be breaking so I decided to return the pack and look for something else.
Disappointed
This camelback was a waste of money, I purchased it a week before a music festival and on the first day of the music festival the bladder burst at the fill ring and was no longer usable without having the camelback leak on you the entire time it was used - very upsetting would NOT reccomend this or advise you to spend the money on it.
Well designed camelback
This camelback is well designed and fun to use. It’s very lightweight and easily adjusted. The magnetic clip is perfect for holding the hose in place.
