At 20,000mm waterproofing this should be able to withstand very heavy rain, but even a mild 20 min summer storm in Colorado gets this thing soaked. Especially the cuffs at the end of the sleeves, there’s no waterproofing at all at the last inch so it just soaks thro and stars saturating your sleeves underneath, keeping your hands dry becomes a monumental task. As a sensory-sensitive person I couldn’t recommend this less, which sucks cause it’s perfect in ways that most rain coats just aren’t even close to, it’s sooo quiet and buttery soft. Wish I could love it, but on the hunt for something better and using my massive outback trading co duster in the meantime
I absolutely LOVE this jacket. It withstood wind and rain in Alaska and hiking in MT. However exactly 1 year from purchase the interior arm material shredded and is flapping like a popped balloon. Sadly it won't be waterproof anymore. Wore less than 20x.
I tried these on in store. I usually wear a 12/large in every other brand. This jacket is a great length, color (teal) and is very light. But it was so tight in the shoulders and chest, I couldn’t zip it. Zippers didn’t work on several of the jackets. XL was still too fitted in upper body but wearable if only wearing a thin tee under it. Could not wear a fleece under it. Why so undersized??? Otherwise a great jacket. Will try to find one like it that is not so undersized on top.
I brought this backpacking for months and it was amazing for windy, misty days. Looks cute enough to then wear into the city too! The material is maybe the thinnest I’ve ever felt. When it really started raining, though, I was drenched. Thankfully the jacket dries quickly, but it would be a big stretch to call it waterproof. INCREDIBLY packable—balls up the size of my fist. Windproof.
I was looking for a longer raincoat to transition from hiking into urban walking for travel. This one looked perfect. However, sizing was a bit odd, the small fit was perfect EXCEPT for the arms. Very tight. The medium was just fine but again the arms were cut just a bit tight so precluded layering even with a sweater of light fleece. For the price this was not worth it and I returned.
I am shocked by how flattering the fit of this coat is! As other reviewers have stated, many coats are too straight from top to bottom, so will fit up top, but be too narrow at the bottom. For reference, I’m 5’7” and wear around a size 4-6 or Small pant, but a size 2 or XS on top. I’m thin, but have a curvy rear. I was able to buy this coat in an XS and not have it be too snug at the hips! I still have plenty of room to sit, move around, etc. This is a very lightweight coat that will be ideal for spring.
Pretty nice for wet weather. The only real problem is the zipper is hard to line up properly. That’s why it only gets three stars.
This is not waterproof! If you are only planning to be in light rain or mist for a short time it might be fine. After 2 hours in heavy rain my undershirt was soaked through. There seems to be leakage at the seams and the arms were just totally soaked through. It's too bad- I had high hopes for a lightweight rain jacket but living in Seattle and visiting Scotland - this does not work. I'm sad I bought it!
Runs a little small in arms and shoulders. I wore a medium sized Kuhl fleece pullover when trying on the jackets and I had to size up to a large. I’ve yet to wear it out in the rain but it seems it’s perfect for my upcoming spring trip to the UK. Packs small, good coverage and the hood seems like I can adjust it so it doesn’t drive me crazy. Not too sporty looking but I can definitely wear it both hiking and as my rain coat for work days.
I love this jacket! It runs small however. I suggest sizing up.
