I have owed Prana pants in the past and I put them through multiple adventure races, over the course of 4 years and they are still holding up. I've worn these Prana Zion 2 pants twice, and put them in the wash once and now I am dealing with worn spots on the thigh and what seems like lint balls in the same areas. I have even seen loose threads that I had to cut with scissors. I'm really sadden by this because of how much I love the first pair I bought. Not likely to purchase another pair unless the quality of the product changes.
I own a pair of Zion prAnas from 2016 and they're the best pair of pants I've ever owned. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing about the Stretch Zion Pant II. I have had these for less than 3 months with only light use hiking and they have more wear and tear look to them than my 6 year old pair! I have come to expect premium quality from prAna but these pants have missed the mark. They look good and fit well. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. From opening the package they've felt fragile and from some light hiking, they have proven to be. There are many loose threads pulling throughout the legs and pockets. The pockets, rear and thighs are showing significant signs of wear and pilling. I couldn't imagine using these for rock climbing. I'm already embarrassed to put them back on in their current state. This is not what pants should look like after a few days of hiking. Save your money, look for something of better build quality.
Started to pill after two washes and has gotten considerably worse after each subsequent wash. I bought three colors and all have had the same issues. It is disappointing that the newer version is a significant step down from the previous version in terms of quality.
I loved these pants for a few months. Comfort and look were on point. From office to doing yoga, these felt and looked great. Then, I started to notice them pulling in some places. Then, it was everywhere. I used to wear the pants all the time, now I just wear them to the climbing gym. Pretty disappointed.
I had 2 pair of these pants that were my favorites and looked brand new after years of tough wear. Ordered 2 new pair for a trip to Nepal and was very disappointed that the new pairs could not stand up to the same use. One pair had multiple picks in the fabric in the thighs just after the flight from the States. But after spending 3 weeks hiking, sitting on the ground, and wearing them around the towns, the material was pilled up and picked and I will clearly not be able to wear them for anything but work any more. Not sure what happened to the production value but they are not the same.
Solid pants for hiking used in glacier national park. Kept me l warm in the mornings. Easy to roll up mid day to cool off in the sun. Went in a couple lakes with them too. They'll hold water bit wring dry easily
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were actually a very comfortable pair of pants; the color of the pants is super black which is my favorite color for pants and the stretch fit is perfect. I like the waistband belt buckle type and front button closure on the pants and the stretch fabric is soft and comfortable. I have worn these for work, and they are quite breathable and ventilate well for all day wear, they also have a really good bend & stretch movability. I like that they have a snap & roll up feature at the bottom of the pants and have good pocket space with an adjustable waistband. They have a keen resemblance to cargo pants and fit much like them but with more stretch, very stylish. I would absolutely buy and wear these again and would highly recommend to others as well.
I bought my pants after reading bad reviews and really tried to like them. Unfortunately the fabric is nowhere near close to the original one. My new 6m old pants look worse than 5y old pants that I dragged through snow, mud and bushes countless time. The new fabric feels cheap, small lint balls started to appear all over the place and it's also shiny. I attached photos of new pants on the left and old on the right
These new iteration of zion pants is inferior, do not buy! First, the fabric is garbage. It piles easily especially in the high wear areas like the seat. This is by no means a wear resistant fabric and going through any sort of brush will wear this fabric to shreds. Second, which is the kicker, the button is flimsy. While on a hike, mine finally broke off and I had to complete the hike with a paracord tied around my waist. But at least I can finally throw this garbage into the dump and get different pair from another brand.
The new version doesn't have the riveted waist button. But instead is replaced with a flimsy plastic button woven with a mesh nylon strap. I'm worried it won't last. The positive is the now stock inseams 28 inches so I don't have to do any alternations.
