Wore out in 4 months
I had these shoes for four months, the soles wore out and starting to rip in only four months. The last pair of shoes I had for years before I bought these. I thought I would treat my self and get a more expensive pair of shoes. I ended up paying twice as much and getting a quarter of the value. If that wasn't upsetting enough l tried returning them and they said it was normal wear and tear and would not let me return them. Keep in mind my last pair lasted years under the same use. Im not only giving the shoes two stars but also REI's return polices. They advertise 100% satisfaction guarantee. I was not satisfied with this product and now im not satisfied with REI. I am generally willing to pay the higher prices at REI because I knew if somthing went wrong or i was unhappy with a purchase i could return it. That is not the case apparently.
Great comfort and waterproofing, limited life
These shoes are very comfortable due to the soft sole. I use these shoes when I travel and trek accross airports. The 1/2 size up recommendation was a good fit for me. I like that they can also be used for running. The waterproofing works very well without making my foot feel hot. I'm discouraged that after 10 months of use, one of the soles separarated from the heel. Since these are the most expensive athletic shoes I have ever purchased, I had hoped they would have lasted longer.
Horrible shoe
Horrible. No durability. Please save your money and buy a better brand.
Light but supportive, comfortable.
For my use case (casual wear, light walking/hiking) I am finding this to be an very good shoe. One day out of the box I wore them for a 3.5 mile walk and my feet were completely fresh at the end. No sore spots or rubs. They came with the slip-on bungee laces in but I found them to be a bit loose so I put in the normal laces. I get some creasing of the tongue but it doesn't affect the fit. I do wish the collar was a bit higher and/or the draw around the collar was a bit more snug. Outsole is a bit softer than my Cloudstratuses. Good breathability for a waterproof shoe. Run about 0.5 size small. Haven't worn in wet weather yet so cannot speak to the quality of the waterproofing.
Okay But Not Great
I had high hopes for these shoes. I like elastic laces and slip on shoes, plus being waterproof I figured they'd be good for the Colorado winters. A few issues I have had with these shoes - the upper material near the pinky toe is starting to separate at the seam. The inner part of the sole is wearing abnormally quick and the rubber is flaking off. Lastly, during cold snowy days my feet were freezing. They would be okay for around $50, but at this price I expected a higher quality longer lasting shoe. These are not worth the price for a few months of use.
Very poor quality.
Bought these as winter runners. After two months use, both soles separated from the footbed.
Hit and a miss
The toe box is quite tight, and the sizing is off. I would recommend ordering a half size larger at the very least. I really had high hopes for these but have since returned them.
Olive color - not as expected.
I got the Olive color. Unfortunately, the shoes are much more green in reality than the photos would indicate. Returned for a black pair.
It WAS good...and then it wasn't.
These Cloud 5's were good until they weren't. Had a squeak in the left shoe from the start, but I overlooked it. Then at 2 months the soles came apart from both shoes. Contacted On and submitted a warranty claim on their website. It was approved within two days, and now I'm wondering if I should go with the same model or not, as I really did find it comfortable for my day to day use. Water resistance also was a huge plus.
Comfortable but squeak with every step
Comfortable shoes with good waterproofing. However after a couple months both shoes started squeaking with every step. At first I thought it was something I was wearing, but no. Another member of my family has the women’s version and they have the same squeaking problem. Disappointed and do not recommend.
