I purchased this tent in store and had very little time to decide. My most important factors were weight and interior space/height and one person setup. I take this tent with me in my airline baggage so it needed to be compact and light but durable and spacious. I lived in this tent for about 45 days straight though bugs/ rain /wind and heat and it performed exceptionally well. Not one drop of water entered the tent during the thunder storm with high winds and the bug net kept out the majority of the bugs, the tent also had enough ventilation to cool off after night fall. The interior space was super luxury for me alone, I had plenty of room for a cot, chair and room to put my bag inside with room to move around. The door size was great, made it easy to get in and out and the rain fly gave some extra covered space for things you didn't want to bring into the tent. The first setup took me a bit but once I got the steps down I was able to get it done within 10 minutes with no help. Great tent
I am very happy with this tent. Perfect size for My daughter and I and 2 dogs. I can fit a small gorilla cart under the vestibule and everything stays dry. I've had it out in 90° and recently 35°F and it was great in both.
I really like the tent; I've only used it once so far - a week of camping in Voyageurs National Park. Having switched from a classic high ceiling dome tent, the reduced height has been a bit of a adjustment challenge. I love the small vestibule entry areas. It's easy to set up for the most part, but it gets a bit tedious when you have to attach the Velcro strips on the inside of the rain fly around the poles. Also, the instructions for setting up the tent are 8-10 wordless drawings which left me figuring some of the set-up on my own. Wish the instructions would have been clearer about how the larger hooks/clips attach near/at the top of the tent and how they interact with the red poles. Searched for a good set-up video on YouTube and found none.
I needed a tent for backpacking with 3 of my children (ages 16, 13, and 11). While we could have opted for 2 smaller tents, they wanted to sleep together on trails. So, after researching many tents, I selected this one. After a couple of trips and a number of car camping trips, I am impressed. I do not regret this purchase. The rainfly works very well in light or heavy rain. The tent breathes well, especially in Oklahoma summers. I love that the top half is just mesh. It is a tight fit with 4 of us, but that was expected. It helps us stay warm in colder temps! The only complaint I have is the footprint connectors. They do not align precisely enough, so the footprint sits loose. This has not presented a problem yet.
Purchased this tent for car camping and was able to put it to the test on a 4-night trip. The tent was perfect! It is incredibly easy to set up and the color coding makes it foolproof, my partner and I had it standing in about 5 minutes on our first set up. The stakes are sturdy, but short. They worked in the firm/rocky soil in NE Pennsylvania, but you would need beefier stakes for looser soil. The first night of our trip, we had rain and 20-30mph wind gusts. It wasn't a forecasted storm, so we hadn't set out guylines beforehand. The tent held up without issue! There was some shaking, but the tent held and we and our gear stayed bone dry. The vestibules are large enough to fit a backpack or two and the toggles allow you to fold back the doors. The stuff pockets on the interior of the tent were great as well. I see what other reviewers have mentioned regarding the zippers being "flimsy", but with a little care it won't be a problem. The interior is definitely snug. This is a 2 people + gear or a 3/4 people + nothing else tent. We were even snug with our gear in there. It was fine for us and we liked the little bit of height that allowed us to kneel for easier changing and maneuvering. My partner is 6'4" and he was able to lay down without touching the sides. Overall, highly recommend this tent! We're looking forward to many more trips with it!
Very pleased with this tent. Quick and easy set-up. Spacious interior with generous vestibules. Ingenious fly system encourages good ventilation. With guylines in place withstood heavy rain and wind flawlessly. Impressed with the aerodynamic design in strong, rain-loaded gusts. A titch heavy at 9 lbs, but the weight can be shared easily. Added bonus - the included Marmot stakes are cleverly made and lightweight. No real need for an upgrade from industry-standard (weak) stakes.
Just set up for the first time. Pros: big interior volume; easy to pitch; nice footprint included. Cons: quality of some of the materials is questionable - zippers are not heavy duty, and fly clips, fabric tape tabs and stow bags are of lesser quality than expected. Maybe cutting corners is what you get for $400 these days. I can't recommend this tent for these reasons. Just retired my indestructible Kelty after more than two decades as the seam tape finally quit and there's no good fix. It doesn't leak but I don't want to put it through the monsoon test.
Perfect size for our family of four, nice and lightweight, great for backpacking, keeps the ocean mist out perfectly. Unfortunately, we were unlucky and in the third camping trip two poles snapped in a strong wind, and ripped the fabric. Pole are very fragile, I noticed a small crack in one of them even after the first use and had to tape it. New pole set cost half the tent price on Marmot website and currently sold out. Don’t think I will buy this tent second time.
I had to replace by beloved hobitat 4 but was ready to downsize because my kids are grown and sleep in their own tent now. This was a great replacement. We had a big storm with lots of wind and rain and I stayed very dry! It was easy to put up. My favorite feature is that I can unzip the top part of the door of the fly from the inside so I can yell at the raccoons raiding our site without having to get out. It's also good to have a little window to moon gaze. Nice and lightweight for carrying into walk up sites.
I'm obsessed with this tent. I've had it for three years in every kind of weather imaginable, including snow, downpouring rain, and borderline hurricane conditions and it keeps me perfectly dry. When the weather is nice you can sleep with the rainfly off and have an almost panoramic view of the stars through the tent's delicate mesh.
