Great Pants buy $10 above list price?
I love Kühl pants but these are even more comfortable than Silencr or Resistor pants that I have worn for years. I like that the fabric is stretchy and abrasion resistant. My only issue is the price charged at REI, which is $10 more than manufacturer charges on the Kühl website. REI is charging $10 above list price! Why?

Deceptr 2.0 is a step backward
These '2.0' pants are 1 step forward and 2 steps backward. While they offer an additional side phone type pocket, they omit the small knife pocket and have changed the closer from a snap to Levi's like a button. The waist is like a Sansabelt flexi waist from the 70s. Its horrible. The front pocket cut is improved to keep them from bagging open, but overall the changes are mostly, in my opinion bad. I currently have 5 pair of decepters and if the 2.0 is the way these pants are going, I will need to find another style or brand. The changes to this style are significant enough that Kuhl should have introduced them as a new pant. Kuhl, please keep the original version around.

Very comfortable

This is very lightweight and very comfortable. Fabric is stretchable including waist. Cellphone pocket is a bit smaller. Larger cellphones may not fit in. Overall I love it. I wore it on a hiking trip with friends. I got many compliments and I was asked where did I get this from?

Great Travel Pants

I wanted great travel pants. I tried on many brands. The KUHLs fit my frame perfectly and are super comfortable. They are sturdy for long term use, and have a good variety of useful pockets without looking like cargo pants. One problem I found. When I first tried them on at REI, size 32 inseam seemed short. I ended up ordering a few pairs online for sizing and color, as the in-store stock was a depleted. Turns out that 2 pair of 32 inseam that arrived at my house had a full 1" difference in length. Hope it's just a one-off quality control issue. I alerted both REI and KUHL to this anomaly. The pants themselves still get 5 stars.

Great pants, especially for the butt-less

As an over 50 white male, I apparently have lost both buttockses, despite years of running, skiing, biking and hiking. As such, I find it more and more difficult to find pants that can do two apparently magical and contradictory things: 1) stay perched above the aforementioned disappearing rump, and 2) provide enough flexibility to accommodate my active lifestyle. But these pants fit the bill and then some! Comfortable, flexible and yet with enough stretchy stuff to stay in place, they make me (almost) want to walk back my decades-long agreement with Homer Simpson in our mutual hatred of pants. So cheers to the Kuhl Deceptr pants! (If only they could have learned to spell...)

Love these pants!

I bought a pair of these years ago, and just bought a second pair for a trip. If you're a long time fan of these like me, be aware that the sizing is different now! The old 32x32 is larger in the waist and thighs. My old ones were made in China and the new ones were made in Vietnam

Good for the coffee shop; bad for the wilderness

I used to love Kuhl pants but the Deceptr are way below par. First, the taper is too narrow. The bottom of the pants rode up to the top of my ankle-high hiking boots. This allowed nature junk (leaves, twigs, scree) to enter my boot. Second, the fabric does not stand up to the wilderness test. I wore them once and had fabric snags after my day-long hike. Granted this included some bushwhacking. But if you're going to spend $99 on a pair of hiking pants, they should perform in the toughest conditions. Not just used for walking to the coffee shop in Bozeman. I returned them to REI.

Nice Pants - Strange Waist Band That Stretches

I like the pants as they fit well and have a straight leg. They are well-made and can be worn on a casual day at work, while cycling in the city, or on the trail. Quite versitle! However, the waistband is similar to sweatpants. It stretches too far. I'm a size 34" waist in all other Kuhl pants and had to size down to a 33" in these due to the stretchy waistband. I wear a 32" length and these are perfect. Recommend you size at least an inch down from your normal waist size and keep your normal size in length.

Writing on behalf of my husband

Bought these pants for my husband while we were on holiday in Boston. We live in Singapore, tropical climate, wet AND hot year round. Basically a swamp. He's a furniture maker here and prior to these pants, wore shorts to work. He ONLY wears these pants, EVERYWHERE now. They're thin, tough, dry fast after getting soaked in the rain and the waistband is the most comfortable he's ever had. The many pockets are great to have too. Have had to buy many more pairs of these pants to evenly distribute the wear. I don't review things in general, but darn these are a well made pair of pants.

seriously great but runs short

I have two pairs of the 2.0 version of the Deceptr. I’m not familiar with the older design but I love these. The stitching and design are impeccable, the side phone pockets are large enough to fit an iPhone 13 Pro Max and the zip wallet pocket is great for travel. Fabric is comfortable and stretchy, allowing for complete freedom of movement. My only complaint is that my pants are labeled as 31-34 as ordered, but the inseams on both pairs are 32 inches from center of crotch to the bottom cuff. I have several pairs of Renegade Rock Pants and Renegade Chinos as well and they are all short. Kuhl must measure inseam differently than other brands. Just be aware. They are seriously great pants otherwise.

Fantastic Pants!

I originally bought the Raven color and they fit so well I subsequently bought every available color. The little bit of elastic in the waist is perfect for someone who fluctuates a bit in the mid section but not so much I want to buy various sizes in various colors. I REALLY like the traditional closure instead of the snap as I have other Kuhl pants where the snap closure does not stay fastened and/or breaks over time. The fabric is light and easy to wear in warmer climates (Florida here). They are great for casual or dress up for a night out. Highly recommend these pants and hopefully Kuhl will not discontinue them (are you listening Kuhl?)
