Evolving classic

I've owned a Cobra 1 since 2013, but eventually time took its toll on it, even after I had elbow pads put on. The Cobra 3 has some new features, like the two-way zipper. They kept the thumb-holes, but got rid of the right sleeve pocket, which I never used anyway. Overall, I think I prefer the new fabric. Well, especially my girlfriend, as it is softer to the touch. Time will tell if it will last as long as the original. Sizing is accurate. I always wear large, and this one fits just like my previous Cobra. So overall, it is an expensive purchase, but if it can last 10 years, that's an investment, in my book.

Exactly what I needed

I just received the Cobra 3.0 merino hoodie and it’s exactly what I was looking for in a light and breathable layering option for one bike. It fits comfortably and has those nice touches for cycling like the longer tail, thumb holes, hood, double zipper and zippered pockets. I don’t mind that it’s not 100 merino wool, and it will probably last longer because of it. It’s not a pure wind jacket or for the rain, but it sure is nice to have another layer that helps to fend off the cold when you are cranking up the watts and you don’t need start stripping off layers, since this breathes so well.

Normal wear and already a hole in garment

I wanted to love this garment but just discovered a hole in the back side area from normal use. Washed once in cold water and hung dry. I have many other chrome products and haven’t had issues. This is new for me. I have several other merino wool products and have not run into this issue with them.

Most Excellent Hoodie

This hoodie is fantastic. I'm just shy of 6ft2 and 195lbs and the large fits very well. The collar is just the right height. Not too tall like some hoodies that make it seem like it should be worn during the worst conditions. The arm length is perfect for me. Just a bit of extra length that allows use of the thumb loops. A nice semi-fitted fit. The wool has a firmer overall feel than other wool hoodies I have but still very plyable. It has some stretch and well-placed hand pockets. The rear through pocket will come in handy if I ride with this. Perfect everyday hoodie.

Gross. Get that plastic out of my wool

I've had an OG and three 2.0's. I definitely won't buy a 3.0. Waiting and hoping that they go back to the original formula, 100% Merino. Mine are finally wearing out and I'd love a new one!Polyester just doesn't perform as well. It has have a much narrower temperature range... wool keeps you warm into much lower temps than poly can, and on the upper end poly has you overheating and clammy way before 100% merino will. Plus that poly stench 🤮Would love to see two versions, the regular thin one and a new beefy "expedition weight" 100% merino

my third cobra. loving it!

this is now my third cobra. i wore the heck out of the V1.0 and V2.0 and loved them. i miss the overall thickness of the material from the 1st and 2nd gen but feel like v3.0 although a little thinner, feels just as durable despite the hybrid material. feels just as warm as before and same stylish cut.i LOVE that that there is additional textured material in the cuffs and along the edges of the hood as those were areas that had seen a lot of wear in my previous cobras. keep up the good work! (and i also miss the red chrome logo)

Get Big and Loose Quality

I had the original hoodie. It lasted ten years of daily use. It was a beast. So stylish and comfortable. Biking in fog. Sitting at home. It was perfect. It was expensive for a hoodie and so worth it. So, I got a second 100% wool one when that one died. It didn't feel the same. They told me it was the same. After a few years of regular (not everyday use) it began to get holes and come apart at the seems. This one feels like plastic. It doesn't regulate my temp. It gets smelly. Why change a great thing? Increase profit margins?

Best merino hoodie for cycling (and everyday!)

Over the years, I’ve had a few variations of the cobra hoodie, and I’ve been consistently impressed with their quality. They hold up exceptionally well over years of regular use. The hoodie is incredibly comfortable and warm, and the zipper is smooth and easy to operate. Since it’s made from merino wool, it breathes well, especially during the spring, fall, and winter seasons. Plus, there are so many pockets, which is a huge plus for me. This hoodie is my favorite layer for biking, traveling, or running errands around town.

Going in the wrong direction.

As others have said, the Cobra is sadly moving in the wrong direction. I had the original Cobra and LOVED it so I bought this with zero hesitation but am very disappointed by what I received. I think it's telling that almost all the reviews from prior owners highlight the same flaws: the new material feels cheap, it is too thin, the lower zipper is annoying, and the fit is too baggy. I would gladly pay extra for some new old stock over this. With version 3.0 I feel ripped off even though the olive color was on sale.

Update to My Previous Review

Update to my previous review.I've owned the black Cobra 3.0 for over a month. I wear it every day around the house. Not washed, as you do not wash merino wool unless needed. This new fabric mixture of 53% wool, 44% polyester and 3% spandex is already beginning to lightly pill. Previous versions never did this. Also every little hair and lint is sticking to the outside of this new fabric unlike the previous 100% merino wool versions. So, I would NOT recommend black. The double zipper is annoying. The bottom zip likes to creep up and you are constantly messing around with it. I do however love the larger fit and not the normal bike clothing industry fit. I can only give this a 3 stars. The price is ridiculous for the quality of product you get. They need to go back to the version 1 and 2 materials.
