Had plans to do San Jacinto Peak from Humber Park using light trail running shoes, and 4 days before the trip saw the weather report saying there was going to be snow fall the day before our hike even at lower elevation at the trailhead, some people even mentioned using micro spikes. Then came the question, should I just risk it or go and buy some long needed boots and risk having new boots with no time to break them in. Decided not to take any chances and went to get some Waterproof boots, tried different ones finally decided with the KEEN Durand Evo Mid. I liked the wider toe space, overall support, and cushion. Used the boots around the house the rest of the day, and a few hours in the morning while packing. Got to the cabin that evening, put on the boots again to do a short one and a half mile hike to the trail head just to get a feel of the boots, everything felt fine. Like clockwork there was snow fall the next morning, decided to do one more hike in the snow and small patches of ice also to break them in, after 6 miles with out micro spikes I was very surprised with the grip, my feet never got wet, or cold; and most important of all didn't feel any hot spots or discomfort. Finally the day came to hit the trail, did 17 miles in total of snow right from the start all the way to the summit, some areas had at least one feet of snow, then on the way back the snow was melting, had about 70% slush on the way down, 15 snow, and 15% mud and dirt. Micro spikes helped with the grip. Even did another 10 mile hike the following week on more aggressive dusty, rocky, muddy river canyon. In the end this was the best purchase I've could have done. Very satisfied, feet never got wet or cold, and no blisters.
First purchase. Bought two previous pairs of Solomon boots and wanted a change. I also like that they were "Built in the USA". Means they were made here but with global parts. The initial feel since these were bought online without trying them on which is the first time I have done so. Like the extra room at the toes and the flex baffles above the toes. I use them for work in construction and not the trails and wanted something rugged. These boots fulfill what I needed and even thought I've only had them about a month now haven't disappointed. Soles seem hard enough to withstand all types of surfaces yet enough spring in your step. Broke in about a week and the footbed now feels like they are molded to my feet. I have flat arches and the insoles. Go to your local store if you can or order online. I don't think you will be disappointed
I have been ordering and wearing Keen Durand boots for years after the other brands I had been wearing cheaped out. Keen is continuing the excellent quality and durability I need in a boot. I have feet and an ankle issue which requires I use a quality boot. I hike rugged trails, mostly rocky and routinely manage to log at least 300 miles on a pair of boots before the tread wears out. Were I hiking on smoother trails I am sure I would get better mileage. I dropped my rating from 5 stars to 4 simply because I am cheap-ish and would like the boots to cost less, but will continue to buy them as long as the quality remains high.
These boots have been great for the 2+ years I have owned them. I am often putting them through their paces during work. I'm in and out of crawlspaces, job sights, constantly kneeling, climbing into old attic spaces, on roofs, always on the move, four seasons; and they have not failed me yet. I love the waterproofing of these boots. I sink them in mud and just go over to a hose and wash them off, and they keep my feet super dry. Still comfortable since day one. The only damage that I have experienced is my dog chewing up the shoe string, and I still use them as is. Very well built. I will definitely buy Keen again.
The wide toe box on Keen boots and snug heel never lets me down. No break in was required.
I was very excited to get these boots after having a different pairs soles come apart after 6 months. I was super excited get my feet back into warm dry boots. Once I slipped these boots on I knew they were for me but, as the day went on I realized everytime I bent the "bellows flex" area on my left boot would "pinch" the top of my big toe. I love keens and have worn them for over 10 years now. My last pair broke in 6 months and this pair I'm nervous won't break in right and keep being uncomfortable when bent. Going to be keeping an optimistic outlook but this may be the last pair of keens I do for a while.

These are great boots. They were very comfortable right out of the box with no break in required. Wore them brand new on a fairly steep and strenuous hike with no problems. Very pleased.
At first I thought these boots were comfortable - wider toe box and my foot didn't slip around inside the boot. But they ended up being too stiff for a truly comfortable hiking boot. When walking on pavement to help break them in and try them out, there was no rebound or spring, so it felt like my foot was slapping the road with every step. I didn't buy the boot to walk on pavement, but the older I get, the more I realize I need more cushioned footwear, and if it's not comfortable on every surface, it's not for me.
Wore these boots in the recent storms in the Bay Area and on an 8 mile day hike. It was a perfect opportunity for me to break in the boots, check the fit, and test the waterproofness. I don't think these boots needed a break-in, if they did, it was minimal. The wide width fit well with my 2E feet, and accommodated my high arch insoles w/ metatarsal pads perfectly. It's difficult to find some decent fitting boots with my foot size so I'm very happy with these so far. I read some other reviews that the shoe laces could be longer, but I think they've overcorrected it and now have very long laces on them which is fine with me. Comfortable and saved my ankles on a rocky, muddy, dirt trail with roots and creek crossings.
Bought for some cold weather training in WV this past January/February. They don’t provide much warmth themselves but I bought half a size up to fit darntough socks in them with another thinner merino wool socks under those. Over 3 weeks, total of 15 days of using the boots, I hiked with an 80lb pack a total of 80 miles. The boots held up great! The weather also varied each week. 1st week was a low of 5 to high of 28(f) with 4-6 inches of snow. 2nd week was a low of 20 and high of 43 with rain/sleet. 3rd week was low of 30 high of 50. Very satisfied with these boots
