A lot of pant for the money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used these pretty hard. As an instructor during this funky nw winter, I've been out in rain, big wind and puking snow. Also with liftie labor shortages during this funky winter, I help break down the mountain one night a week. This entails taking down and rolling up literally a couple hundred yards of fence and hauling to the nearest lift shack. Another reviewer mentioned the fleece-lined pocket as being problematic-I concur as it can get pretty wet in the pocket. I find the fabric to lean more toward waterproof than breathable than comparable 2-layer proprietary fabrics from the competition that starts with a P. Overall, for the money, great pants.
I own 5 pairs for a reason.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am now the proud owner of 5 pairs Men's Freedom Pants. 2 are insulated 3 are shells. They fit to size as there are both waist and length size options not just S, M, L, XL. This allows one to select their proper waist and length size for those of us who don't fall into standard fits (i.e. I'm 5' 7" with a 35" waist). The pants are very well made. Pockets, zippers, vents, all very well thought out. Insulated pants are great with a base layer if temps are 22 F or below. Shell pants are great with a base layer above 22 F. I've been skiing for 51 years and these are the best pants I've owned. That explains why I have 5 pairs.
Great for Snowboarding
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Extremely well made and kept me warm while snowboarding all day! Broke the wind and didn't get wet at all. I was worried they would be too warm but with thermals it was perfect temperature. The thigh vents were a great addition too!
Poor design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use these pants for skiing, snow shoveling and in the summer to stay dry in rainy weather. The length selections are only short, regular and long. I purchased the short length given the sizing guide instructions. When I received them I tried them on and found that I had to hem them to keep them from dragging on the ground. There are only three belt loops instead of five, so that they do not stay in place at the waist. They have added velcro adjustments on the sides and a velcro patch where the front snap is. The velcro scratches the skin badly. They have used recycled material which I can do myself if I shop for clothes at a used clothing store. If I had not hemmed them before using them, I would have returned them.
Best quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing fit, 100% waterproof, great quality and design , it's pleasure to wear it! ❤️
Solid ski pants, but missing a few features.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased these ski pants for a big ski trip out west this week. The pants are well made, warm, and have most of the necessary features you'd expect from ski pants. The reason for the 4 stars (vs. 5) are that there are a few minor things off about them. Primarily, the pants are a bit too long - I'm almost 5'11' and when I take off my ski boots to walk in my sneakers, the lining would drag on the ground. Also, there's no zipper on the boot linings or pants so it's just a simple pull over to cover the boot whereas my old ski pants had a nice zipper and button closure on the boot lining and pants which made it much easier to mange. Lastly, there's only 1 smaller cargo pocket besides the hip pockets which is somewhat limiting.
No reason not to love these pants!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Warm, comfortable and cool
Yes, would buy these again.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm an OG skier and have been using North Face Products for years. I have never been disappointed. I haven't tried these out yet, but I'm sure they will be as good or better than my old snow pants. These are basically a shell. I like to layer depending on the weather. My last pair were versatile. Great for a spring day or a cold windy snowy day. I skied Breck in December and it was cold and windy. The pants did a great job keeping the wind and snow out. I'm headed to Breck and Vail late January. I can't wait to see how the handle the POW!!!
Mesh At The Powder Cuff?!?!?
Where the inner powder cuff at the ankle meets the fabric at the inside of the lower part of the pant is mesh fabric instead of solid fabric. This will allow powder to get inside the pant if you have to do any boot packing or hiking in powder snow. The design is absolutely bizarre for a ski pant. Unless you are only skiing on a warm corn snow day, these pants have a terrible design. The mesh above the ankles serves little purpose other than possible venting which is better achieved through the inside leg zippers.
Best ski pants yet
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had these pants for 2 years now and they still look brand new. The Velcro waist adjustments hold all day which is great for layering. Cargo pocket will hold plenty. Warm enough for temps in the teens with only a thermo leggings underneath from North Vermont to Park City. Waterproofing is good for the most part. Needs to be reactivated every so often. Venting is plenty good with gator mesh and inner thigh zippers when needed. I will definitely buy again when time comes so please don't discontinue them.
